Laptops Lappy for development and work

Hi,
Am looking to get a laptop for someone who is going for higher studies. Following are the requirements.

What's your Budget?
Not more than 50K

What will be your primary usage for the notebook be?
Programming, web surfing/office apps and watching movies and a little casual Gaming

What size and weight considerations do you have?
Portable and usable on a daily basis so around 13" should be right

Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest?
Not really sure about this but needs to be sturdy.

Any other considerations?
Good battery life (at least 5 hrs), slightly future proof (2-3 years).

Please suggest any good models.
