Hi all,

So Windows 7 has started advising me about battery replacement on my laptop. There's a message near the battery icon asking me to 'Consider replacing your battery'.

The battery backup is about an hour now. So I'd say the OS is right. [I think the message pops up when Win7 detects the battery can hold only about 40% of the charge].

My laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1525 is almost a year old. In fact, it was purchased on 15th March last year.

1. So is this the average life of a laptop battery?

2. Is this situation covered by the warranty?

3. What would be the price of a new battery? Where can I buy one? Which is the recommended one?

4. Is there any way to fix the battery, or is it time to bid adieu?

Thanks a lot.

You should call CC and maybe get it checked.

For the prices, ask CC or check on ebay.in

Your battery might have lost storage capacity, but only if you have noticed a significant drop in running time.

here is a dealer's site on TE itself DELL INSPIRION 1525 / 1545 prices are really competitive if offered genuine products which i doubt. i'd also be interested in replacing my laptop's battery which again happens to be a dell xps if this comes out as original.

It seems this is a Universal problem with Dell Inspiron 1525 used with Win 7.

Friend of mine is getting this msg from 1 month using Win 7 Ultimate. NO such message in XP.

Its either Win 7 Or Dell Inspiron 1525 battery for all laptops in India..

Please post solution if you get any.

I think it is a general problem with Dells. I had a Latitude 620 given to me at work, went through 4 batteries in 4 years.
