Laptop Buying advice Dell,ASUS,Toshiba, sony or Hp

I was looking for some good online deals for a friend... Allow me to share them with you...

i hav a the asus K series the Asus KJ42 series see the specs in my signature no probs as such but sound is a bit low even though its altec lansing tried everythg but still its so low..
 
Who cares for the speaker volume of a laptop?

@o.p,for long term usage(at least 5 years),safe choices are limited for your budget.

I would have looked into the followings..

1.Dell Vostro(the current 3*** series)

2.HP Probook(probooks are generally much better than the dv series and extended warranty is easy to buy)

3.Wait,Increase the budget and get a T420.

Toshiba Satellites usually lasts long,but the C series looks pretty bad.

Do not know much about Asus,but their A.S.S seems to have improved a lot in India.
