I recently bought a Compaq Presario V3070TU notebook. It used to work fine with DVD's (read/burn). But now it reads only DVD's replicated from factories and reads/writes only cd's. I'm not able to read dvd's i've burnt earlier with the same drive, moreover it doesn't even read blank dvd media's.

Intel Core Duo T2050 1.60 Ghz
Windows XP Pro SP2
512 DDR2 Ram
60 GB HDD
SONY DVD RW-G520A

I have a desktop pc as well, and the same dvd's work fine with it.

Try cleaning the lens by blowing clean air over it. Or use one of the laser eye cleaners. Burned DVDs need a powerful signal to be read, in this case your Laptop's dvd-rw drive's lense might have gotten a little dirty, which should be cleaned.

i have cleaned the lens but it still doesn't work. I think the best choice i have got is to replace them.
