Laptops Laptop for 30K

Hey Guys
I am looking for a laptop for 30k or max 35k.
Could you suggest some place in mumbai or any online site.
Need it for basic purposes.
I was looking for AMD sempron laptop but had no luck.

For sanity sake do not go for a Sempron M based laptop in 4Q 2006! I brought the same with an Acer 1.5 years ago for 30k. As superczar pointed out, pentium -m laptops are your best bet. Dell would be around for 37k odd, settle for HCL.
 
where can i get an HCL laptop.
Is it possible to directly deal with HCL representative instead of a dealer.
This might reduce the price further
 
dude u will get a sahara laptop for 29k acer for 31k HP for 35k
The best thing about sahara just remove teh Sahara logo beneath it u will see lenova and also u get 3yrs warranty.
If u want to buy one let me know.
 
You can check Croma at Juhu (near Chandan cinema) to see various models. Though not the cheapest prices, they have quite a few budget models to view.
 
I was @ Hyper City earlier today, they've got really sweet deals on some Compaq models.

Saw a Celeron 1.6, 256, 60 Sata, Dvd CD Combo, 15.4" Brightview for 31K NET inclusive of taxes. Add more RAM to it, free carry case, Reliance Data Card + Jabra Bluetooth Headset and I'd say that VFM :P

Same thing with a Core Solo T1300 is around 37K with taxes, same specs.

Thinking of picking up the first one 'cause an uncle of mine is in the market for something in the same range. Prolly going to get him an upgrade to 768 or 1 GB RAM though.

Anyone see anything similar in an intnl brand? Looks are kind of a decisive factor.

Another 3K for a 512MB Ram Upgrade equating it to 768. Aka 34K - Sweet deal imo.
 
While the above config might sound sweet, the 15.4" screen kills mobility. I have 2 laptops - a 15.4" one and a 14" one. The 14" is very portable and it just light enough to carry around without straining too much. But I cant say the same for the 15.4" laptop which is bulky more than heavy.
 
I guess that's a question of personal preference. A similar model with 512 MB DDR2, DVD RW Combo, Bluetooth and 14.1" Bright screen is available for 36K NET, inclusive of 5.1 Theatre speakers (Don't know the details on this though).

But my main lookout for the screen as opposed to 500grms of weight or a few inches in dimensions.
 
hehehe, i keep saying this time n time again, but will say it again....

most 1st time laptop buyers get enamored by the large screen on a 15.4" or even 17" but when the initial charm wears off, the large size and weight become a major PITA :P

what i usually recommend to ppl looking for a large screen is this:

buy the smallest machine in your budget (14" fits in urs) and pick a 17" LCD maybe a month or two down the line....when u need mobilty, the light weight and size helps...when you are @ur desk, just hook the monitor ....

and thus get the best of both worlds :D
 
sorry - i didn't want to start a new thread - but my friend in bangalore wants a lappy for around max 30k and it should'nt be celeron based. also it should have a dvd drive. his main usage is movies+music+net.

i dont have any idea abt what to recommend even after reading above posts.

pls help me every1

Any reason for not wanting a Celeron processor ? They are almost as good as a Centrino. In fact my Celeron 420 (1.6 ghz , 533 Mhz) is faster than my Centrino 1.5 Ghz 400 Mhz in many benchmarks. Also you wont get a Yonah core centrino for 30k, so a Celeron would be a best bet.

Also what DVD drive are you looking for ? All laptops come with a minimum Combo drive (CD-RW + DVD Rom).

my other comp has a celeron proccy and the difference in performance is obvious when u start using demanding apps at the same time - like keeping three graphics programs open at the same time and having to alternate between them.

atleast a 4x dvd writer to watch/write/rip dvd movies and take backups.
