Looking for a laptop with good gaming performance and a powerful processor

Processor should be a core i7

Will also be ok with getting it from the US if it has international warranty

Pls help

Check Dell Studio 15 with core i7

do you have any brand preference? ASUS and MSI are pushing few gaming laptops.

try ASUS laptops. Its series of gaming laptops has quite a number of models to suit your needs. You could look at the G50 series with one model i think retailing for 1450 USD/ Guess what! its YOUR price range!

And, ASUS has 2 years global warranty, with 1 year accidental damage covered.

~just my 2 cents~

Studio XPS 16 is the best deal for 70K if you are gonna buy from India
- core i7 720QM, 4 GB DDR3, 500 GB 7200 HDD, ATI HD 4670
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

And If you intend to buy from US, there are lots of configs to get confused.
Check out some of them.
1) Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q830
- core i7, 4GB DDR3, 320GB 7200 HDD, Nvidia GTS 250
Qosmio X505-Q830 Laptops - PQX33U-00K00H | Toshiba Direct

2) Alienware M15x with Nvidia GTX 260 (between 70-75K)
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

3) HP DV6t, dv7t and DV8t come with core i7, but GPU is Nvidia GT230, which is little bit lower then GPUs in above 3 notebooks

4) Acer Aspire AS8940G-6865
core i7, 4GB DDR3, 500 GB 5400 HDD, Nvidia GTS 250
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS8940G-6865 NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 18.4" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 500GB HDD 5400rpm BD Combo NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M - Laptops / Notebooks

5) lenovo IdeaPad Y550P

Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Y550P(324156U) NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M - Laptops / Notebooks

6) ASUS G Series G51J-A1
core i7, 4GB DDR3, 640GB 7200 HDD, GTX 260

All the 6 models will come within 70-72K IMO,just Alienware will increase your budget more 5K IMO

ASUS is one of the most reliable laptop brands. They have recently released a model that comes with core i5 and AMD HD5xxx series card. check in their USA site.

so your pre-requisites are core i7 and 16" inches, ?

6) ASUS G Series G51J-A1

core i7, 4GB DDR3, 640GB 7200 HDD, GTX 260

Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G51J-A1 NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 640GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M - Laptops / Notebooks

And

2) Alienware M15x with Nvidia GTX 260 (between 70-75K)

from your screen preference limitation, the ASUS G51J looks the best.

however nothing beats qosmio in the sub-1500 USD gaming category. However expect ZERO portability from the machine!

Configured the Alienware similar to the ASUS G51J and the cost came around 80K

Does dell offer international warranty??

I was looking at xotic pc and i say that asus is coming up with a new 16 incher with core i7 and ATi's new 5730 graphic cards which support DX11

Dont quite remember the model no.

the official specs of these cards will be released next week ,will wait till then and decide

Is a ASUS a good brand??What about the after sales service india for a lappy purchased in the states(cos they dont even sell them here)????

^ first things first,

ASUS DOES sell computers here. However, as with most MNCs, they dont keep the product line the same.

Secondly, ASUS PCs are known for their build quality (quite unlike dell or hp).

moving on, IMO, alienware charges a lot for its brand. ASUS will offer you a better deal at the same price. Go for the meat, not the cosmetic.

regarding after sales of asus, you can always call them up at their customer service number and ask them for a detailed answer to your query. Try 1-800-2090-365

cheers!

+1

Asus is the best bet for you unless you are only preferring 16". And It's coming with 2 year limited global warranty. Plus If you check the spec for both asus and m15x, clearly asus will win, even if price is concerned.

^

i know that asus sells computers here.I actually meant they dont sell the gaming laptops.

Called them up,they confirmed that warranty will be available

Thanks 4 the help

Will wait till jan 15th when the specs of the new cards are announced and then will make the purchase.........

^ dont forget to post the details of the comp when you decide to buy. So that the thread becomes useful for future reference for people wanting to buy new systems.

cheers!

OT, but guys can you tell me what could be average weight of a laptop with core i7 ? if i'm looking for 13-15incher max.

Thanks

If i am getting a laptop from U.S is it compulsory to open the laptop box and get it in a bag to avoid problems with customs????

Cos i want to have my lappy box packed when i get it..........:P
