Ok Ok fine sorry for the confusion.

See i need an external HDD which i can carry to my office and can keep in my bag when i travel and see to it that it does not get damaged. I also plan to connect it to my PS2. I need a 250 GB or more. Now AFAIK ready made external HDD from companies like Transcend are costly. But most people say that these high capacity branded HDD are nothing but normal HDD in a casing directly factory fitted.

So for a more economical option i though i can go with a normal desktop HDD + casing if that is feasible keeping my use in mind. Also i think i will require a separate power cable to power this HDD.

So finally if i am getting a USB powered 250GB or more capacity HDD (2.5")for a reasonable rate then in can go for it. Else i will have to compromise with the standard 3.5" HDD (which i feel is nothing but normal HDD in casing). So what option should i go for ?

I hope i am clear now.

yup....

u think that portable 2.5" external HDDs are too costly for u :P around 4.5-5k actually for 250Gb. Small HDD = expensive mate :)

Keep in mind that these need NO separate power supply.

If u get a bigger (3.5") external HDD, then those are cheaper of course but are NOT portable. Will need separate external power supply and stuff. Bulky to carry around.

Now, any other questions? :)

Thanks for all the replies. Now i need to decide which one to buy. Will have to scour Lamington Road for best deals. :)
