One should not open and apply the TIM unless and until it goes out of warranty. Why OC a mobile CPU when it is not recommended at all.

lol? I don't see anything wrong with doing it. What are you gonna do if the paste dries up (like in my case) and fries your chip? Still going to leave it as it is? Not a wise choice. Extensive use can always lead to overheating even within a year of use. There are only two options: fix it or burn it.

Who said anything about OC'ing it?
 
99% of the team its just a question of opening up the laptop and cleaning the vents which do get blocked off with fine dust etc over time. Only thing is to be careful and follow the service manual religiously and with care. Take 2-3 hrs and go slow, thats the trick. Applying TIM or not is usually an option, though mostly not needed.
