Laptops laptop power cord

are all laptop power cords interchangable ? can i use any power cord irrespective of the power adapter ?
 
Nope, all are not interchangeable. Some have a different pin, while for some, the voltages are lesser. My HP adapter gives 18.5V o/p, while the Sony and Dell have 19.5V o/p. So check it before getting it.

Nope there are pin configurations like 3 pin (Triangle), 2 pin , 3 Pin (Straight), and few of them have slight variation, cos the neautral and the live wire may swap, so always use respective power cords

all Dell power cords are swappable with another dell adpt (If they fit in), others, nope they dont

actually my asus laptop has a 2 pin , no neutral pin, it has a shorter power cord. so was thinking to replace the power cord with my old hp power cord. any idea ?
 
Yes, and no. Sorry for not understanding the question! All 3 pin are compatible with other 3 pin ones and same for the 2 pin ones. But 2pin and 3 pin compatibility, with each other, no.

Are you sure buddy ? Because how come an adapter be dependent on the power cord ( 2 pin or 3 pin ) ? the port in the adapter where the cord enters is same for hp and asus that i have checked .

I know that adapter of differnt laptops are not compatible because differnt pins in laptops and obviously power rating but why its differnt for power cords i cannot understand till now :(

the asus cord i have is Laptop 3 Pin Mains Power Cord Cable | eBay without the middle neutral pin .

Line neutral swapping is not really a problem for AC currents

Line earth and neutral earth swapping would be a problem, just avoid that
