Laptops Laptop screen broken

My sis bought a HP Compaq laptop in august 2007. and after 3 days the screen was cracked, reason not known till date, maybe it was closed with something inside. Then she went abroad and laptop was left here. now she is back and the broken part of the screen is a black patch, which is spreading.

Is there any chance to get it replaced under warranty. laptop is with me right now. wat do u guys suggest ??

physical damages are not covered under warranty, but do try to talk to the HP people. They may be willing to help you.
 
should have contacted HP immediately after purchase - you may have stood a chance ... here is where Dell scores .. accidental physical damage IS COVERED -

Anyways your choices now - HP .. and if they say no ask them to fix it, (good luck on the pricing there) - or order a LCD from overseas and replace it yourself.(easily doable)

IT IS POSSIBLE THE CRACK TOOK PLACE DUE TO IMPROPER SEATING OF LCD SCREEN - in which case any small pressure will crack it. (improper installation of LCD means fixing should be under warranty)
 
HP has a plan called HP Total Care Extended Service Plan with Accidental Damage Protection, not sure if its available to India customers.

What you can do is upgrade to the warranty if possible and claim warranty under that :ohyeah:
 
i had changed my friends lcd for rs11k at lamington road if you want i can help u in doing it ,they give 1yr warranty too.let me know through pm
 
thanks guys ..... given the laptop to HP service station, the guy over there said it maybe changed under warranty but he was not sure about it :) .....
