The SVS15 is really good too. Weighs just 2kg and the IPS screen is gorgeous. :)
Well its natural you confuse the SVS15 with SE as essentially they are the same except for the internals(SVS15 has Ivybridge) and some minor design changes.

I am waiting for the SVS models to hit amazon. Till now they are available on Newegg and bestbuy.com but not yet available on amazon.

I keep reading that Sony vaios have not so good build quality. How true is this ? I was thinking of buying the newer S series with 1080p screen.

I am also checking the y580

Also i am confused with the specs of Y580. Is it 1080p. For example check one amazon link below. It has conflicting description for resolution.

Or is it that the Y580 can be obtained in 768p as well as 1080p resolution.

I don't really care about the CPU family (sandy bridge-Ivy bridge etc). I don't understand all that and GPU is also not a necessity. But i do appreciate that a 1080p screen does give "more" of real estate to work with.

I have still not purchased the laptop as I am ok with pushing my purchase a bit.
Now after checking few laptops and also checking the 1080p screen, I feel that it might be too big resolution for me. Also I don't really understand the difference between a 1080p and 768p if you show me the two screens, 5 minutes apart.
Same with viewing angles and contrast ratio stuff. Moreover I do not play any games or do graphics intensive work so dedicated GPU is not needed.
So I personally feel that 1080p for my needs is more than required.
I need to now how good is the following Sony vaio E series. I can only buy the laptop from amazon.com
