There is a gas leakage in the compressor of my 1.5 ton Hitachi window AC (RAA18CP14) The AC is more than 5 years old, but sparingly used and in great condition except for the compressor. All or most of the gas has now leaked.
Chain of events:
- There is erratic cooling by the AC. There was very marginal cooling one evening even after running it for 20 mins
- AC service guy found oil deposit over the compressor and suggested there might be gas leakage
- The power MC also tripped twice when the AC was turned on after the service
- Post service and fitment, there was a very evident buzz from the compressor and visible gas leakage from the compressor
The AC service guy said the gas is not leaking from the external pipes, but from somewhere within the compressor. He recommended that instead of repairing, sell the unit and buy another AC because even after repair the AC will not perform very well.
I'm not sure what to do
