Lenovo has today launched the smartphone in India. The LTE-capable handset is priced at Rs 8,999, and will be available exclusively on Flipkart. The registration for the smartphone begins today at 2.00PM. The first flash sale will be conducted on April 15 on Flipkart.
The A7000 follows the A6000, which is an entry-level 4G smartphone launched earlier this year. In the two months since it’s been launched in the country, the company revealed that it had sold over 300,000 units.
Besides its LTE capabilities, one of the talking points of the A7000 is its support for Dolby Atmos sound technology. This should ensure a richer sound experience, and Lenovo describes the A7000 as a smartphone “built for entertainment on a budget.”
As far as specifications are concerned, the A7000 flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 267ppi. Under the hood is a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6752m octa-core processor paired with Mali-T760MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. On the storage front, it offers 8GB internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card.
In the photography department, there is an 8-megapixel autofocus snapper at the back with LED flash, supplemented with a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front. The smartphone also includes a 2,900mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough for up to 16 hours of talktime and up to 264 hours on standby mode.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop wrapped under Vibe UI.
At this price point, the Lenovo A7000 will be up against other LTE capable smartphones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, Yu Yureka and the Honor 4X among others.

Lenovo has confirmed that it has not discontinued the A6000 and the stocks will be replenished soon.
Lenovo launched the A6000 smartphone in India back in January this year. It started selling the smartphone in flash sales exclusively on Flipkart every week from January end. Today the company launched the A7000, successor of the A6000 in India at a price tag of Rs. 8,999. Few hours back Lenovo A6000 page on Flipkart has been updated with the information that the product is out of stock.
Even though the Lenovo A7000 is slightly costlier than the A6000, the specifications and features it offers are better compared to its predecessor.
