Laptops Lenovo L420 - Feedback

This is the laptop I'll be getting from my Institute, it costs them Rs. 27,500 from what my sources gather.

Is this a good laptop for multimedia/casual usage?

Hows battery life and all?

Anybody ever used this?

what config are you getting? I'd reckon the as you go higher up the proccy (13 -> i5 ->i7) the battery life would be lower.

2nd generation i3 processor, 14" screen

A thinkpad at 27.5k is a great deal.. take it, upgrade the RAM to 4GB, HDD to 500GB anf if you want to keep it for a long time, upgrade the warranty to 5 or 7 years (Can be done anytime before warranty expiry)

I havent used a L series, but have a R series(again college provided), its unbeaatable for college use..

Only issue may be the hinges, I think L series has plastic hinges.. they have a tendency to break after around 3 yrs

Hmm, it's 320GB, no upgrading, college is providing.

Thank god it's durable, yeah I will use it for 2 years, 1st generation Fusion chips don't perform too well, might sell this off and buy a new one in 2 years.
