I bought a new LG DVD writer a week back after reading all ur suggestions....LG GSA H10N
The writer is quite good...But I recently scanned a disk in Nero DVD-CD Speed using the writer....I got
2.4% Bad data...
0.4% Damaged data
in the scan...on my LG drive

I asked my friend who has a Sony DRU810A to run a scan on the same disk...but he did not get any errors....It was 100% readable on his drive....

The DVD was written using my old Sony DRU720A....
So should I go and ask for a replacement for my drive....Will I get a replacement??
Help!!!

^Disc quality scan no, surface scan yes.
@scarezebra : put the DVD in the drive, and run a transfer rate test (F2) from the main CDSpeed menu, and post a shot of the completed TRT here.

Her is the screenshot of the TRT and the Surface scan....

I have only one disk of that type.....Its just that the disk does not give any problems while reading in my friend's comp...It gives

100% Good in the surface scan for him on the same disk....

He has a Sony DRU-810A...

funny thing...my LG drive reads many discs that my friends' Sony drives dont read....;)

[ot]abt the firmware update......is it really required.??..also where to see the firmware information??
Updated my firmare to latest...thnx to freaky^_^[/ot]

Firmware details can be checked using DVD Identifier, Nero CD-DVD Speed (As you can see from the above given screenie that he has the JL10 firmware) or Nero Infotool. There are other tools too which could be used but I cant remember those.
