LG will launch the V20 smartphone in September, and it will be the first to get Android 7.0 Nougat. It's the successor to LG's wacky V10 phone, and will have the same dual-screen, dual-selfie camera features (no other specs were revealed). The news means that the V20 will likely be released before any Nexus phones, which are usually the first with the latest Android operating systems. That would be an unusual move by Google, but LG has confirmed the news with Engadget.

LG has built the lion's share of Nexus phones for the search giant, including the Nexus 4, 5 and 5X. With the generally low prices of Nexus models (the 5X is $349, for instance), it's understood that companies like LG and Huawei are willing to take smaller profits to work with Google. With the V20, LG gets it both ways -- it can sell the handset at a profitable price (the V10 is $600) and still be first to market with a new Android OS. Considering that the V10 was a rare bright spot for LG, that could give its flagging mobile division a boost.

v10 was a wonderful device and everyone will only have appreciation for it. Only problem is battery life & size. Hope they address it in V20. After the problem with G5 , LG depending on V20
at its size the galaxy note was way better a choice. no wonder they din even get it in india where samsung have higher brand value than lg

I'm using the V10. It's very good device. Only letdown is locked down bootloader :(. It has it's other negatives too. Plus points are the excellent camera, dual SIM version, SD card, removable battery and the extraordinary build.

Yes, Second that.. I am currently using V10, dual sim, micro SD slot & awesome camera, military grade build. Manual camera setting is a welcome addition & i have used it extensively in my recent trip.

If you want root, you can downgrade to 5.1.1 and there is .tot available with root. I have all the root applications installed including TB, xposed & tasker.

note 5 was a better choice than the s6e+.

battery wise both devieces were 3000 mah. The surprising thing is the note 5's battery was smaller than earlier.

camera wise the v10 was the top android camera to have.

camera wise they are pretty much equal. Also it does not have amoled so battery life poorer than note and its cpu also is slower, s-pen definitely a great draw to note 5. Note 5 also has ddr4 ram and does not look weird and heavy like the v10. maybe thats why it did not sell much.

Seems like a LG hater :P

I am happy with v10 and i will prefer any time over Note 5 :) I will rest my arguments.

no, why would i hate a company ? you have your choice and its fine as your needs may be diff. than most. Though note 5 still better acc. to me :P

When I bought my V10, I got a 200G sd card and extra battery with charger. replaceable battery is the best thing in this phone, makes me feel invincible when the battery dies and I just replace it with full battery. The manual camera kicks sgs6/iphone's ass if you like photography. The only thing I dont like about this phone is that its too big for my taste. if they make a smaller v20 then I am sold :)

oh btw, smaller screen is so awesome. I totally depend on it for my meetings calendar.

v10 did well in the markets it launched. Don't forget replaceable battery with expandable storage AND depending on the variant dual sim without losing microsd. Considering these two could be taken for granted on note's in the past it was a big slap in the face to see them missing on the note 5. To add insult to injury, what was samsung doing ? pushing the s6e+ instead. Are you shitting me ? the s6e+ is the note 5 you don't want to get because it has the curves on the wrong side. here is samsung telling you that the their note isn't the top dog any more.

So the note 5 had been relegated. Anyone with a note 4 wasn't going to upgrade to a 5 and in any case depending on which country you were in samsung did not even officially launch the note 5 everywhere. Again a departure from the past.

A heavy day with camera and the battery will be flat in 2 hrs. What will note 5 do then. Controlling the gain of the recording mics for video. note 5 have that ?

Where is the live light meter on any of the regular sammy flagships ? my k zoom had it, the LG's to my surprise topped it. Why did Samsung completely forget about it. if you need the s-pen then go for it but after 3.5 years of note 10.1 have used the s-pen sparingly. Its nice to have but not essential.

The memory is faster by 50%, significant ? it isn't exactly slow on the v10.

I would not hold up the note 5 for battery, the s7e is more competitive.

My preference for G4 over the v10 was size. I used the iphone 6s plus as a dummy to see whether i could handle anything bigger and the iphone itself was too big. The v10 is spec'd as a 5.7" screen, in reality you're actually handling a 5.9" size device. Couldn't the battery have been bigger in that case. The v10 camera has been ported over to the G4 so there is now manual iso & shutter with video and the ability to increase video recording bitrates it's not a complete port but those work and are good enough.

The v20 is very anticipated, we don't know what LG will do. Improve on the v10, tweak modules more. what price ? lots of groaning already about the note 7's asking price.

Then there is the camera. How the heck do you improve on the v10 ? add blinkies, no reason why we can't have that :D

We've had a linear improvement in capability using the same sensor as the G4. The wide angle on the G5 is a brilliant idea.

i don't expect the sensor will change. That will happen with the G6 if history holds.

If we go by leaked specs, there is no small screen (the main display). V20 supposedly comes with 5.5" full HD display (a downgrade both in terms of size and resolution - but an upgrade to the battery life obviously), SD 820 and 3GB /4GB RAM. It will feature the microSD slot, and also have room for a 4000mAH battery, as well as its usual ticker screen and dual front camera.

haha, brilliant. This is not a downgrade its an upgrade for usability.

5.5", FHD AND 4000mah :woot:

All those QHD's are good for is reducing battery life. Am perfectly fine with a 10" HD why the heck is QHD required on a screen a quarter of the size.

Finally, a workhorse. Just hope its accurate.

only question is whether replaceable or sealed?

Don't like the different memory options as in India we are likely to get screwed by that, somebody decides what the whole country should get instead of allowing customers the choice.

20MP for rear ? hmm, looks like a new sensor then.

Hope, they haven't moved the finger print sensor to the front.

Should have translated this

Can't agree more. My galaxy S barely manages a day, with that screen gulping down battery. IMHO, if only the display was a more handy 5", it would have been awesome.

There have been other leaks with different specs since you posted that..

oh well, we'll just wait and see...
