Pannys do come in open boxes (no sticker seals, just a hologram somewhere) but rest assured, everything will be in order. You can check with the box contents list.

Now, the feature stickers are generally found on display/demo pieces but it isn't it unusual to see them on new pieces.
That said, most of them do come without the stickers and you should trying getting the same.

Watch a few TZ7 unboxing videos to get a better perspective on the above.

Thanks TTM. I followed your advice and watched some unboxing videos on youtube. Without exception, they all came in non-sealed boxes, and all the cameras had extra stickers on them. Thanks a lot for suggesting that mate, now i have peace of mind regarding the dealer. Not that I didn't in the first place. I mean he does have an awesome ebay reputation! )

Well can't say about camera but I bought a PS2 from him and the product was good and brand new. Regarding camera with stickers, I bought a FZ10 from grand_deal on ebay the cam in pic had no stickers but one which I got had removable sticker informing about various features, so think that should not be an issue. Also if you went to his shop you can personally check the camera and buy.

I can easily go to his shop again (Delhi Metro Zindabad! ). This time I will go and get a feel of the camera once again and test it thoroughly before I buy. Like I said above, the stickers are common to all the cameras that people have bought. Thanks.

i bought my fz28 from him. he is a gd seller. has decent knowledge abt the stuff he sells which is always gd. i was deciding between hx-1 n fz28. i went for fz28 after talking to him. besides tht i also got a 16gb sd card from him too.

i asked him a lot of questions about the 1yr warranty he was givin. i was satisfied. i havent had any issues with the camera but have a gd feeling he would honour his commitment...
my fz28 was home delivered. box was laminated with plastic in other words sealed. if you want a sealed box just tell him so. i dont think he would mind.

dont worry about the stickers. the camera is supposed to have them. manufacturer photos sometimes dont show it thoh

Yes he does seem very knowledgeable. I mean he started rattling off the features of the camera and was comparing similarly priced cameras for my benefit, but I had eyes for only my precious!
How much did you get the 16GB card for? Class 6?
One thing I haven't asked him is about the warranty. Does he give dealer's warranty or does he give you a proper bill and manufacturer's warranty?
Lastly, I think I will go to him and pick up the piece, more for my own satisfaction. And I will ask him for a new piece, but that shouldn't really be a problem. Thanks for your words.

Generally gray dealers open the products they receive from the distributors to check whether it is working or not...
My cousin also do so for the mobiles he receive through couriers...
Sometimes there could be inner damage too due to courier...

If U have a doubt whether the camera is used before, U can check the shutter count...
If it is 10-20 it is ok...means dealer had used it just to check to working of the camera...

About Stickers..

Mostly manufacturers post the photos of product with minimum stickers...
Also, these stickers are shiny, thus while photographing they may reflect the light back and could get overexposed...That is why stickers are not present in the advertising photo...

For Eg- Sony official website show least stickers in Somy H10 camera, whereas if U go Sony center U can see lots of stickers present on the camera...

One way is to take the photo instantly and then see the file name of that photo..
Generally the file name keep the track of shutter count..
Like if the name is DSC07813 The shutter count is 7813...

However, If U need a exact hand on the count some software are there for it like - Opnada Exif...

Small bump for a very informative thread.

I was at SolarDigitalCam shop at Pailka Bazaar today. I want to buy a Panasonic TZ7. His ebay listing says 17,990, whereas he quoted 17k to me in the shop.

The thing is, the camera that he showed me, came out of an already open box. All the accessories and stuff were there, but why the open box? I asked him that in as many words.
His response - "We personally test every product for customer's complete satisfaction."
My counter - "Why is it that you need to 'test' every product, if they are all coming from the companies?"
He of course had no answer to that.

Another thing that is pulling me back from going and buying the camera from him is, that all the pictures I have seen of the camera on the internet show the camera with minimal logos and feature stickers on the front of the camera. Whereas the piece I saw at the shop today had all kinds of stickers on the body of the camera, advertising the camera's features. That was really weird. Anyhow he is still giving me the best deal in all of India, and so I want your input regarding his authenticity, and also of the products that he sells.

Help me out folks.

dude, relax! i bought panny fz28 from solardigital cam, palika bazaar. the guy looked decent and knowledgeable. i havnt had any problem with camera so far. as far as warranty and bill goes, you wont be getting any original bill because it forces them to show this sale in their company account at the time of return filing. i guess if you still want the bill then you need to pay sales/vat taxes. you wont be getting company warranty because these products are being bought from singapor/malaysia. you get the dealer warranty though for 1 yr. try to bargain on memory card...you will get atleast 100~200 discount. these guys also have there shop setup on ebay india and they are power sellers.

i think i got the card for arnd 2 or 3k. dun remember exactly. n it was the class 2 one of sandisk. i was getting the 16gb trancend one (class 6), but he said he was getting too many complains about it. i decided to wait but to no avail so finally got the sandisk one. the card is v good. u shouldnt worry about class 6 one cuz u r not usin a dslr or somethin. there are no issues while taking burst photos, or hd recording.

he did give me a bill. thoh it was hand written.
