I've called many shops in SP Road for LiteOn drives and they're saying the company supposedly shut down. Is this true? I'm badly in need of a LiteOn drive. Does anyone have any idea where else in bangalore I can Try to get them? Thanks.
 
lite on optical drives brand has been bought by moser baer.sony optiarc share same tech as lite on.search google for details.many drives are rebranded lite on drives.
 
^^Might be he has got xbox 360 with him..

@ op : You can try getting lite-on from dvdstoredelhi.. Its actually the oem ones without box packing and accessories.. Got 2 drives from him on july 2011.. To my surprise it is iHAS124B.. You could better contact and ask him..

Sony optiarc does not share any tech with lite on,perhaps some year ago sony optical drives where probably shared the same tech with lite-on or benq,but in the recent years they have partnered with NEC

I think i'm missing something here.

Reason i'm curious is because i have a iHAS324 myself.
 
Well, the new XGD3 format has a larger capacity than a standard DVD+R DL disc so it has become virtually impossible to make a 100% backup of the disc.. C4E presents the iXtreme DVD Burner FW which now increases the capacity of a standard dual layer DVD+R DL to a FULL 8.7GB !..

Following are the drives to which iXtreme DVD Burner FW is available..

Liteon iHAS124B = baseline model

Liteon iHAS224B = 124 + LightScribe

Liteon iHAS324B = 124 + SmartErase

Liteon iHAS424B = 124 + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 224 + SmartErase)

Liteon iHAS524B = 124 + LabelTag + SmartErase

Liteon iHAS624B = 124 + LabelTag + LightScribe + SmartErase (or = 524 + LightScribe)

You can get them of Ebay , There are many HK sellers selling them Dirt cheap directly shipped to you , do opt for Ems or registered post , depending on the version you can have them at 30-60 $ shipped to your place (excluding Ems / Dhl Charges )

This FW any use for regular pc burning or only for xbox?
 
Of course yes.. You can use this firmware to burn FULL 8.7GB of data to a DVD+R DL.. But, only quality discs can be burned this way. like Verbatim (made in singapore)..

@OP : Bro, you better get a iHAS124B and you can cross flash it to iHAS524B.. As all the drives has identical hardware..

Any advantage with SL discs? I have a few MIS verbs left over. Never been able to overburn those.
