do u guys not turn off monitor when not using it ? .. (power schemes)

do u guys not shutdown the computer when not using it ?

do u guys not crunch for wcg ? ;)

^^ It saves power while running the computer too ;) Not necessarily while powering off system and monitor there are inbuilt option in software to safe more power :P A pretty cool application just waiting for it to be released for Linux ;)

Ok just tried the s/w out and here are my opinions :

The options that this software shows regarding total power consumption are just not correct

TDP of a 17" CRT is around 70W, this shows 30W

TDP of ATI 9800 Pro is around 75W, this shows 8W lmao

TDP of AXP 2500+ is 65W this shows 45W

So how can this be correct?

All other options i.e. power saving options are in the Power options in Control Panel Anyways...

from the review its still quite buggy and doesent do what its supposed to but good initiative , maybe after a few revisions itd be good

just use RMClock and the options in power management and swithc off monitor when not using it.

Check the guide in my siggy.

see thats the point you guys are missing out on ... crunching for wcg is good fine and dandy when your system is running on some other issue /work ... but running it 24/7 just for crunching for wcg IMHO is just a waste of power that can be saved :)

man just uninstalled this application from my comp it also removed my startup enteries for nod32,power iso and creative surround mixer :@

Its yet another application that tweaks your power scheme on you Windows with a better front end gui.

Or say it just lets you knw what a 10min turn off would safe.

Ideally you use the following scheme:

- Display : Turn Off 10-15min
- HDD: 10min ( There is hardly any lag when it spins back/turn on. Atleast when new HDD is concerned)
If you have multiple HDD you would save on heating too.
- Wireless adaptors can also be put to sleep in 15min
- And all that which you don't require when u watch a mov or not infront of PC.

Now most of the hardware come with L0 or L1 state sleep to save power make you you have enabled them on you windows (default it is)
