I am posting this delibrately in chatterbits.
I am sify broadband user.
My cable operator knows me very well. I got sify connection roughly 8 months ago.
I usually renew online through sify mall and my cable operator is cool with that.
The 256K connection costs Rs.795. Thats the MRP of this package. And sometimes when i cannot use my Credit card i tell my cable operator to get me renewal.
Now here at dahisar mumbai area, "Sairam" is in charge of distributing sify and pacenet connections.
Now the funny thing is here the same package is offered to user for Rs.1200 and not at MRP price of 750.
I didnt argue much and kept renewing online till this month when the twist came.
My connection was about to expired and as my credit card was full with some purchases i asked my cable operator to get me renewal.
The guys at sairam told me that they wont renew my connection, not only that the guys there asked me to pay up Rs.3175 for the 9 renewals i have purchased online, this money is supposed to be his comission and otherwise he will cut my connection.
Now there is no way i was gona pay that much, i said him straight forword on face i am not paying and i am again renewing connection online. And if he cuts my connection we will meet in the consumer court.
then i was greated to our gunda raj type language to payup otherwise blah blah blah.
I said i am not paying and if you think this is going away quietly then he is mistaken. Fortunately i had some sense to turn on the voice recording software on my mobile and the conversation is recorded.
I have mailed sify ( their CEO, customer service, PRO and ER officers.).
Lets see what they have to say.
Money is not an issue, if MRP was 1200 i would have paid 1200. And this i am not leaving. This will go to whatever stage needed. Someone has to speak, others are afraid, i am not. I came home took the print out of sify website and delivered that to them and came back home and said now do what you wana do and i will see what i am gona do. And if he cuts my connection i will file complain against them in consumer court, in press and also in local police station.

The thing that striked me is that i am the first one in my area to stand against these guys. Noone else bothered about checking even the official price. I contacted few people and they were not even aware that they were charged more than MRP :S
