I don't know about E-mail, i think Sify is just going to ignore it or probably take a long time to respond
Fortunately, when i got Sify before, the cablewalla was extra nice and kind. Especially when his 2 hubs were stollen which was wired to my cables, he looked very frustrated yet he tried his level best to provide the best service to us. In fact, i think we're good friends.
LOL you guys have it pretty decent.
SIFY is the most sad ISP, and I will never recommend it to anyone. Firstly because they dont do any background checks on the distros.
Around 2 years back, I know its a long time but yet I called up my local SIFY operator to enquire abt SIFY schemes, he just informd that it will take me Rs 12000 as installation charges for the modem et all !!! End of mater never approached sify again and will never approach them again.
Their Sify cafe's are good eg, they cant even provide decent bandwith at their cyber cafe's, it takes me a minimum 4 mins to access my yahoo a/c.
good work funky .. way to go ...i even suggest u despatch a letter to the Minister of I.T at the centre Thiru Dayanidhi Maran .. he is a good chap and I have seen him answering letters back .. IT and Telecom dont have a ministry at the state level so these Telecom operators try to always act smart ...but then we can always complain at the Centre level and teach these pricks a good lesson.
What i suggest is if sify guys act smart here then mail the minister (not email but snail mail) with all the docs and hope for the best.
I am a Sify user as well. For more than a year I have been renewing my plan at the rates mentioned at the sify website (895 per month). The amount is usually collected in cash by my cablewalla. No receipts have ever been provided or demanded by me.
My cablewalla is kinda nice chap. Tho he used to mention from time to time about paying Rs.100 as monthly service charge but I never paid anything. Months passed, he stopped asking . . . . Now I have decided to start paying him Rs.50 per month of my own sweet will primarily because of his extraordiany nice service (even at late nights). I think there are very few Sify CTO's who are so nice.
I've had issues with Sify regarding MacID . . . . their cust service is as shi**y as ever . . . . . . the only saving grace is that fortunately I happen to have one of the best guys as my CTO.
@Funky : I admire your resolution to fight the malpractise. Give em hell
Thank God I did'nt pick sify ! I almost finalized the deal with my cable operator. I was getting the same plan that Funky is using ! Everything was final and he was abt to come in the evening to setup my connection ! Then I suddenly saw the newspaper and this huge full page airtel advertisement !So I contacted them and when i heard that they were giving unlimited 128 kbps connection for just rs 700 I could'nt resist it and I straight away went for the airtel connec. The cable operator tried his best to mislead me but I was fortunate not to come in his trap !!
@Funky To wat i have realised its quite hopeless arguing with them.. they have to be taught lessons.. due to the lack of competition this becomes the condition of each package meaning 50% extra charge on each scheme. they think they are doing "Ehsaan" on us by giving the package, bloody faggots some 2 years ago i used to just kick the ISPs back there in santacruz for not giving proper connection and now i cant even kick these pacenet faggots cause i got no other option in my area
theres absolutely no use arguing with them competition kills monopoly :|
I got call from sify customer relation officer Ms. Niroopa from chennai today after my 2nd mail to them.
Aparantly they have instructed all their operators not to charge anything over MRP of the product value. They are entitled to charge nominal maintainence charge but she too agreed that it should not be this high and they should not be claiming it as MRP of the product as they are.
She asked me to mail her the scan of the printed copy my cable operator is distributing here and i forworded it to her.
I am assured that my connection wont be disconnected. And they will talk to the system operators here.
