Hello guys, just an hour back purchased logitech mk260. Actually my microsoft wireless desktop 1000 conked off today due to battery leakage. I went to market in search of K270 after reading some reviews. But unfortunately it was not available in most of the shops except Delta. But i dont prefer buying from delta for some reasons. So dropped the idea and bought MK260. Now the problem is the mouse pointer gets momentarily stuck sometimes and even the keyboard's response is also the same. Sometime delayed response and sometimes no response. WHy is this ?. I read several reviews about this product and they arent bad...

I hate this behaviour and shall i exchange it with some other product ?. Since i got it just today, i hope i will get something in exchange...

What about microsoft optical desktop 1000 ?

Is my wifi router which is 0.5 mts away from the reciever causing this issue ?.

Please suggest the best wireless keyboard within 1.5k guys. Is any bluetooth based available in this range ??

can any of you throw some light on the mk320, k270 (keyb only), k340 (keyb only) and k400 (only keyb with trackpad)...

My requirement is only keyb as i intend to retain my wired mouse. But if i am going to get a good keyb by paying extra and that comes with mouse then even that is welcome, provided it doesnt expand my budget too much...

Among these the k270 has caps lock indicator,on/ off switch and 2 yr battery life and comes near the price of mk260.

The mk320 also has power switch, but only 15 months battery life for keyb and 5 months for mouse. But no auto power saving...

The k400 is a trackpad version which will make my budget go above 1.5k since its 1.9k. But i think this one is overkill for me as i hardly use the trackpad. I think a mouse will be more convenient than a TP especially when gaming though i dont game much...

Finally the k340 didnt make its owners happy, as it suffers from several bugs according to logi forums..

Guys, now let your suggestions flood up this thread....

More than 70 views and not even a single write up...

Ok...

Finally exchanged the keyboard with a dvd writer and a pen drive...

But that was not easily done and was made to undergo a lot of difficulties . It was a purchase from CHALLENGER COMPUTERS (very challenging ???). I took back the product to their shop within an hour of purchase, and that guy (who is an IDIOT) refused to exchange stupidly commenting that the packing is open. How the hell can a customer know the performance or working of a product without operating or using it ? Actually i opted to buy the k270, but it was unavailable with them, so shifted to the mk260.

Then i talked with neoteric informatique service centre who deals with that particular model of logitech keyboard and inspite of the concerned person's assurance that he would give them a sealed pack, this idiot was not willing to exchange it and he made me to go directly to neoteric today, return the unit to them and get a DC. WTF !!!

Recently i met with an accident and i am not able to walk properly, which fact was made known to that idiot, and inspite of that he made me go to the distributor directly, come to that shop a couple of times , which is in the 1st floor without even an elevator. again WTF !!!

Then i googled and got the owner's number, called him. He was not in a mood to respond properly and asked me to come the next day.

Guys, to be frank i have return more than 2k worth items in some shops and i have even got a refund. That BASTARD and the others who work in the shop refused to give me the mobile number of owner who is well known to my uncle.

In the service centre, a guy warned me not to buy ANYTHING from CHALLENGER COMPUTERS as they are undoubtedly ROGUES for sure !!!!

So BEWARE GUYS......

respectable mods, please change the thread title to BEWARE OF CHALLENGER COMPUTERS and make it sticky....

Thanx in advance

I had the MK320 (Used for 4 months before i switched to mechanical HP one), and used to have that occasional freeze even inspite of newer/fully charged batteries. And i don't have a WiFi router so that eliminates another possibility. The issue, although at times irritating, was something i got used to. But now that i have the mechanical one, i am never going for another membrane board again ever, wireless or not.

I don't get why you think 15 months battery life for KB is not good enough:S. And i think the MK320 does have the auto power saver feature.

^^ thanx a lot eternomind..

This occassional freeze will apply to the keyboard or mouse or BOTH pal ?

Do you think even the k270 will have the same occassional freeze ??. OMG. This is worse than the battery life. I can even tolerate the 15 months battery life, but CANNOT tolerate this issue. My MS wireless keyboard was just awesome before it died. I expected the signal reception to be as good as it, but unfortunately dont know why the hell logitech (perfect name is DODGITECH) has failed to give a quality product. And even the MK320 is behaving in the same manner, WTH is this.

So each and every damn logitech wireless keyboard is going to do the same ?? I want a good keyboard with not many extra ordinary gaming blah blah functions within the price of 1.5k and where on this earth can i get it ?.

Neither the the service center guy nor the product manager, admitted there is such an issue with their wireless keyboards atleast for the known models. They just gave the DC without saying a word. My suspicion was correct..

Now what to do. Any ideas ??

Is it the occassional freeze that made you switch to a mechanical keyboard ?

^^ In my case it was more apparent with the keyboard. Say i am typing something, there is an abrupt lag sometimes between a keystroke getting registered and actually appearing on screen. This was not regular but whenever it did happen it was quite disturbing. It was not because of the range either, as i was sitting just 3-4 feet away from the CPU/receiver. I do not remember this happening with the mouse. Either way, with such problems, gaming can surely be ruled out with such KBs. But a friend also has the MK320, and he doesn't face this problem at all.

You can try exchanging for another unit of the MK320.

I happen to come across certain posts here on TE extolling the virtues of a mechanical keyboard and how they provide a good typing experience and feedback. So i was thinking of trying out one, when the thread/post on the HP Mechanical KB came about. Just decided to try it out and fell in love with it.

@OP

Sorry to know that you had to go through all that.

I have been using MK260 with my laptop for over a year now, never faced any issue, no lag nothing, even while gaming.

The problem seems to be driver related, you should've checked for any driver conflicts.

But yeah some dealers behave like douche bags when it comes to RMA issues. Better to avoid him and spread the word among friends :)

@ eterno...

I am going to wait and watch and going to learn which wireless keyboard will function flawlessly without these issues. Until then i decided to use my wired logitech keyboard..

If you come across such a keyb within that price range please inform me mate..

@sriharsha -

very strange you didnt face any problems with that keyboard which gave problems to others . I even checked for drivers but through internet, i came to know there are no drivers for that. But that cannot be a driver problem mate. Even when i complained about this issue i was not asked to install any drivers, so that is ruled out...

@anfjavid

Even I was skeptical before buying it, I checked with my friend who was using the previous model, even he didn't have any problems.

Regarding the driver issue, I meant, check if there is any conflict with other drivers.

Just after your post I played a few games on my desktop for 2-3hrs. Again no lag nothing both from kb & mouse.

Using an mk260, well only the keyboard really, mouse is a wired logitech. no issues with lag or delayed response. i have a usb wifi dongle in close proximity but no issues. check if there are any other wireless devices like cordless phones etc. nearby. and plug the receiver into a usb port on the back of the mobo, not an auxiliary front/rear port. in my case, i have it plugged into a usb extension cable wired into a rear usb port and the receiver placed on the table itself near the keyboard.

Using K270 since 3 months. No Lag whatsoever and I dont know why you faced problems with logitech service. They are the best.

Currently Rashi is also handling service for few products and their service is very good.

The reason K270 being costly is because of it's USB dongle. It has unified receiver where in you can connect multiple unified keyboard or mouse without connecting extra USB receivers for each.

@julian - There is a cordless phone which operates in the same 2.4ghz range but not near and remote by 5 -7 meters. I have plugged the receptor at the back port only. So these possibilities are eliminated.

@sg3707- I didnt face any issues with logitech service, but only with the product and the vendor who sold it. May i know the cost of the k270 there ? In Chennai its hardly available and i cant get the correct price. If you can give me 100% assurance that the K270 will be OK without any signal interference, then i will go with it.

But i have 2 wifi routers placed in an enclosed shelf with a distance of 1 meter at the left side and at the right side as i said before is a 2.4ghz panasonic cordless phone at a distance of 5-7 meters... Do these matter ?

Obviously, the way to go about this is to power off any wireless devices and test the keyboard/mouse. Then power on devices one at a time and see what happens.

Wifi is not an issue at all which is evidenced by Post #3

forget about his experience, why not troubleshoot it yourself? sometimes electronics just don't make sense...

but to experience i need that keyboard, which i dont have now. My cousin has one wireless keyboard and will check it asap....

Just acquired a k270 and its performing good . No reception issues and the unifying receptor is super tiny. But do i have to switch off ( includes power switch) the keyboard to avail the 2 year battery backup ?

If u r not lazy then it's better to switch it off. But my k350 has been on since 2 years and till now has no problem whatsoever.

^^ I am not that lazy mate. The power switch lacks quality and in order to save its life, i am asking this. If its going to work well regardless of the number of times it is used, then no issues.. I am ready to do it...
