Beginner
I got these prices from madurai shop , should be a bit pricey than chennai .

so please tell the suggestions for the new pc im going to buy

all i need is 2 16x pci-e slots and 4 dimms for ddr2

so that i could have the sli disabled to put in 3 monitors for a tri monitor suppor

C2Quad q6600 2.4 ghz - RS 11500

P5N32 SLI p35 chipset 3x16x (i think its asus they didnt say me) = RS 12,700 + tax
OR
Asus workstation board p5k64FF p35 with 4 16x slots for rs 14,800 + tax

and many like this for above RS 12,000+

i would like to know a cheap mobo that can have 1066 fsb for q6600 and 2 pci 16x slots
8600GT DDR3 512 Dedicated memroy (i think xfx ) for 7200+tax
AND
8400 256 MB shared memory again xfx for 2800+ tax
i dont need good card for the 3rd monitor so im going with this one

sata western digital se16mb 3.0gb/s 500MB for RS 5200

Good Case(probably zebronics) & SMPS ( 500 Watts (not sure if thats enough)) 2400+1500= 3900

viewsonic 22" Wide for RS 15,500

i have a 19" lCD and 19"CRT already

RAM : stil not decided because i wanted the PC-8500 - 1033 mhz i guess
but that was not available here . even in chennai they say only 800 MHZ is max available here.. so looking out for suggestions.

some optical drive with SATA , lg i suppose not sure = RS 1550

Keyboard&mouse .. logitech G15 : 1200
UPS (they didnt mention the company .. in other words im an asshole i didnt ask for it lol ) 1K watt = little under 5,000

My primary usage is i do server monitoring .. . and some gaming, lot of web development .. so atleast 2 screens necessary when coding php, ruby, etc and most of time server administration.. so will require diff monitors for server administration
i havent bought anything yet.. just going to do it by next week.. so all comments or suggestions welcome.. and please do take a look at pricing.. if that differs hugely i can easily go to chennai or banglore to purchase myself..

i dont mind paying little extra to get it from here

Price list i have checked from 2-3 banglore, chennai based hw shops and i dont see big diff apart from the mobo..

this is my first post here.. if i have ran thru any rules , excuse ;)

please accept my apologies for the spelling grammer mistakes, etc

additional info neeeded.

please tell if the UPS is enough for the 3 monitors (2 lcd & a crt )

is that possible to use all the maximum memory 8 GB DDR2 on the above mother boards ?

i heard from sites that using pc2 8500 on all the 4 slots will probably make the system not to boot or not even upto post

dude wrt to sli boards the p5 sli boards use the nvidia 650i chipset...and not the p-35 chipset..those based on the 680lt chipset like the ones from xfx ost abt 10k max....
as far as i know dere is no p35 board with sli....

most of the newer boards have native fsb 1333 support.

wrt to 8600gt ddr2 512 u`ll get a gddr3 version for abt 6.5k and at dat price of 7k `ull get the hd 2600xt with gddr4.....so check ur prices again....

8400gs is simply lame...the least u can do is get urself an 8500gt at a few hundred bucks more.....
wrt to a 1KVA ups...the powersafe one comes around for 4.1k....

Not too sure if it would help you but there are models of 3870X2 from ATI that claim to provide support for up to four monitors with a single card.

Here is one from Asus and may be available in India. Though it could be pricey (25 to 30K)

Mobo -

Dont go for the P5N32 SLI board.

im not sure if there is anything called p5k64FF in Asus stable, get the right info. I think Abit X38 would be right for you.

Display card -

Remember you are not going to SLI or crossfire the cards, so dont worry about those.

Your plan of 8600gt and 8400 should be good enough. Just make sure 8600gt has dual dvi (not a must, but always better)

Ram -

800mhz ones are more than enough for your needs. Just make sure you get good brand ones.

PSU -

Maybe spend more and get a good PSU.

UPS -

1kva should be good enough. Just make sure that the one you are buying is a good one.

if you want multiple monitor support cheap, try out the 690G boards. they have a VGA amd DVI out , and surroundview, which lets them run along with any ATI PCI E card to power two more displays :D

i dont wish to have one card for 3-4 monitors

i can use 2 cards like one from 8600GT and another being 8500GT

just want to make sure if both with work and allow me to use 3 monitors

Bro . thanks for ya.. you cleared all my doubts.. except mobo
not your fault.. just i dont know anything about the new mobo series and so does the dealers here .. they spell whatever and say a 5 digit price :(

i was also looking at a abit x38 or should i wait for x48

x48`s are horribly costly....still the best val for money are the p35 chipset based mobos

for example the abit ip35e or its bigger bro ip35 pro ....the pro even has a 2nd pci express x16 slot but restricted to x4 bcoz of lack of lanes...

anoder good mobo wud be thge slightly outdated xfx 680lt sli mobo at abt 9.8k....

and if yr for x38 ABit iX38 QuadGT at abt 12k is cool too

up to my knowledge Viewsonic's after sales is very bad. better consider a good monitor...

May be from samsung

Dell is currently the best in terms of performance-price-after sales service
