Really need an external hard drive as i'm running out of space..
Till yesterday I was sure i'd buy the "Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Kit 1TB (2.5 Inch/USB 3.0)"..
then i saw a letsbuy listing of a Verbatim drive.. "Verbatim Portable Hard Drive 1TB (2.5 Inch/USB 3.0)"

Now i'm really confused.. Is Verbatim a trustworthy brand..?
there is a huge price difference on lb..
Seagate - 6510
Verbatim - 5400

Considering both drives are 1TB and USB 3.0..
Which one should I consider..??

Go for the verbatim brand as of now. If you mind the price differance, go for the seagate.

Also, search for the seagte expansion/wd portable drives. They are slightly cheaper than the go flex.

the expansion ones on flipkart/lb are all usb 2.0..

Why do you suggest the verbatim?

just saw WD elements.. Its listed for 5300..

now i'm even more confused..

Need some more suggestions..

Verbatim - 5400

Seagate Goflex - 6510

WD elements - 5300

WD passport - 6500

Which one..? :/

Why are goflex and passport more expensive When all drives are the same in specifications..?

Where are you based? Coz yesterday I was at Lamington Road, Mumbai and there a vendor quoted 1tb portable WD USB3.0 for Rs. 5.8k. I am not sure of this. If possible have a look there too. Or else you can call PrimeABGB and get the pricing. Rest of the vendors there will bargain for couple of hundreds less than Prime.

well, ordered the wd elements 1tb usb 3.0

after some research i found it was only 4mm thicker than my initial choice (goflex) and it does carry 3 yrs warranty..

i'm from chandigarh and the pricing in market is horrible.. so ordered off letsbuy..

2.5" USB normally comes with 4500 or max 5400 RPM so wondering if they would be able to provide performance difference when it comes to USB2 (480 Mbps) to USB3 (5 gbps)

after using it i have to say there is a quite noticeable speed difference when using with Usb3.0 port..

overall its an excellent drive..

I got that verbatim 1 tb usb 3 drive last day. Its really fast compared to my old usb 2.0 hdd. Read/write speeds are between 55~70 MBps for assorted and sequential writes, and runs really cool. Can you post a hdtune bench screenshot so that we can compare each brands which will be helpful for others to choose.

My WD elements 2.5' 3.0 (which I got FREE

The last I checked locally, Verbatim carried a 2 year warranty whereas WD carried 3 years. But letsbuy shows the warranty to be 3 years on Verbatim as well.

Do confirm the warranty before you buy coz you really need the extra 1 year warranty!

^^perhaps. letsbuy has the habit of posting incorrect warranty info. For dell too they mentioned only 1yr warranty whereas it should be 3yrs. Whatever is the standard manufacturer warranty, same is applicable for products sold via letsbuy (quoted by their cc)
