Budget 21-30k Looking for an everyday laptop

Folks,
Looking for a basic everyday laptop for my dad. His needs are very very basic (listed below). The laptop should be portable and easy to carry around.
  • Budget : 25-31k
  • primary usage for the notebook: web surfing/office apps/movies
  • Windows OS (7 or 8). Specs should be good enough for Win 8 and upgrade proof for a couple of years at least.
  • Looking for a laptop that is 13-14" (not smaller) and even 15.6" if it is not too heavy
I would really appreciate any inputs on this as I am completely out of loop with Windows laptops. I'm not sure what specs are considered good for Win 8 these days.

Also, any idea if the LG laptops are any good..

Hi, I own Sony Viao Laptop from last 3 years.
Its a good one, durable,need to charge frequently but I would definitely recommend it if you are going to use it for home office or at home.
Not good for travel because battery lasts only for 2-3 hrs.
in these 3 year I didn't faced any problem, even my 2 year old climbed on it several time and plays roughly but it didn't have any damage or problem.
Highly recommended, My model is E Series VPCEB21EN costs around 40-41K before 3 years.
