Where can i get good bargains on laptops in b'lore??????????
Can i buy from S.P Road

Hey what notebook are you looking to buy? If its acer then I know the guy at MG road acer mall pretty well and he usually gives me some discount.

I have zeroed it on Acer 5310NWXCi. Though still not very sure of it.

But i prefer a shop where all brand lappys are present rather than a single brand,so that i can compare those..........

I have stuck a deal with Dell for following config:

AMD X2

512RAM

80GB HDD

15.4" Widescreen

No OS!!!

All this For Rs.29,650 inc tax.

Hows the config?they are asking 2k more for 1gb RAM!

roughly 1200 more bux for vat ;)

And will we have the compatiblity to upgrade celeron to core2duo in the future?

Technicall you can:

# Your CPU is a Zip socket, and there is another CPU that fit into this socket.

# Your chipset supports the CPU

# Your BIOS can recognize the new CPU, which wouldmost likely be the case as most manufacturers create one BIOS for the entire mobo line that they use

Most of the proccys in the Celeron 5XX series are pretty much the single core half cache brethren of the C2Ds so you may want to google up the exact chipset and its compatibility to determine if an upgrade is possible

Pardon my ignorance, but since when are Dell laptops available via dealers ? From what I know, the only way to buy dell laptops is by ordering it online!! And which model is it from Dell ? AMD Dual Core for under 30k inclusive of everything ? Which graphic card does it have ?

Thanks for the reply. So is that config good at that price point? And that price is including vat and other tax.
yeah its a good deal! if you are in Bangalore then you only have a 4% vat to the total price which should come to about 1200 bux.

The config looks decent except for the 512mb of ram, you could upgrade the ram by yourself ;) wont cost you more than 1000 bux

Just check on the Dell website.I think he is talking about Dell Vostro 1000 series!! The cost is 29650 but add 4.5% VAT + 5.5% Octroi and it comes to around 32k!

+ Pros
AMD Dual Core Proc
15" screen
Dell babes are generally good looking :)

- cons
512 MB (can upgrade to 1 GB manually but it will take the cost up)
No Carry bags (You will have to spend on this one too as it is a must)
DVD ROM/CDRW (No DVD Writer)
Cannot SWYG (See What You Get)

OK guys finally i have purchased the lappy. And it is ...............

Compaq V6409TU

C2D T5300(1.73Ghz)

1GB 533 RAM

120GB HDD

15.4" W i d e s c r e e n display

NO OS

Total Price : 40,500 inc tax,vat etc. Company gives only 512mb as default.

Iam quite happy with it but not very happy with:

Speakers: The inbuilt speaker volume is very very low:-)

Video Playback: Though DVDs are played excellent, other formats like .avi, divx, wmv etc.looks pixellated and not that vibrant as on my PC(normal monitor).

So how can i improve on these two things????

I am assuming you did not get any driver cds considering no OS was bundled with it! So for starters, make sure you have correct drivers for your display (and not Standard VGA).Also, same for audio and for other devices (like Memory Card Reader, bluetooth etc)
