Hi,
Am upgrading my comp after a good 3 years.
Need some advice on most of the parts..
Thanks in Advance..

Here goes..
1. Q: What is your budget?
. 32-35k

2. Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
. CPU - Intel Pentium D
. Motherboard – Intel Original (very old 1)
. GPU – Nvidia GeForce N9500GT
. Monitor – Samsung Sync Master 17†(4:3)
. SMPS – VIP GOLD 500

3. Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
. Monitor – Samsung Sync Master 17†(4:3) 1024*768 recommended
. SMPS – Don’t think it’s gonna be enough so no use keeping it..
. GPU – Same concern (unless I can combine 2 GPUs to get combined performance)

4. Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
. CPU – Intel core i3 2100 Sandy Bridge OR AMD Phenom x4 OR ( Intel core 15 OR AMD Phenom X6 if Budget permits)
. Motherboard - any compatible motherboard
. Monitor – suggest a 21†to 23†full HD

5. Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then
please mention when and which component
. Final

6. Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
. Mumbai (lamington Road) Feel free to suggest any particular shop..

7. Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
. No

8. Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
. Gaming
. Browsing
. Desktop Processing
. Downloading
. Watching fullHD movies
. Stock Terminal

9. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
. Wanted to buy Intel since I have never faced a single problem with its products. Although have been advised that AMD is
more VFM. Feel free to suggest any brand..
. Have read that core i3 2100 sandybridge. dual core is better than phenom x4 with 4 cores… kinda confused..

10. Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?
. Racing
. GTA 4
. FPS (Battlefield etc)

11. Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage
Full HD

12. Q: Are you looking to overclock?
. Not right now but may be in the future.. (keedas) :p

13. Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
. Windows 7 64 bit

PS: I heard one can exchange old peripherals on Lamington road.. although not sure..

Thanks..

Please clear the doubts, you said you will be keeping the monitor, GPU and SMPS. Will you be using it in your new rig or buying these mentioned components totally brand new?

My suggestions for the rig are:

Gskill 4GB CL9 1333Mhz ~1600

A 450 SMPS(I dont know a good model) ~??

I want to keep the monitor and buy a full HD 1 as well.. may be use it as extended desktop.,.. (heard the new GPUs support multiple resolutions simultaneously..)
GPU and SMPS .. dont think they can handle the load.. so mostly will have to upgrade...

Also Intel core i5 raises the budget quite a bit.. (overall)
Any suggestions on AMD phenom??? Had always heard AMDs are better for gaming..
or Core i3 2100 (is core i3 2105 launched??)

Monitor.. Mostly will go for an LED backlit one.. go green.. :bleh:

Thanks.

CPU has the least impact when it comes to gaming at fullHD resolutions. So a corei3 2100 is more than enough for ur build.

SMPS - get the Seasonic S12II 512w psu 3.5k

a HD6850 is fine but i suggest u to get a hd6870 which is ~ 11k and u can play most games at max settings ( including bf3 without AA )

Thanks for the configs.. and sorry for the late reply..

buying the pc has been put on hold for the moment... will buy it sometime later... hope HDD prices fall by then.. :D
