PC Peripherals Low profile memory sticks??

Now I haven't been keeping up with the latest happenings as much as I should, but I was totally unaware that RAM sticks had halved in size.

So imagine my surprise when I came across what looked like a memory dimm looking like it had been chopped in half!!

When exactly did this happen? And is it limited to Transcend only?

AFAIK the smaller size is limited to Kingston or Transcend only.
Other like Corsair,gskill etc are of normal size.

the second surprise was that Trans DDR2 that was routinely CL5 was CL6 on the slim sticks.
