Though Valve has hoped to release Team Fortress 2 add-on content as a free download for console users, company co-founder Gabe Newell now says that the console business model is getting in the way.

"The big concern I have right now is our ability to provide updates," said Newell to videogaming247. "On the PC side, we've done as many as four updates in a day, and that's great: we can respond very quickly."

... On the consoles, they want us to charge money for them, because that's in their model, and our model is very much more to grow the community by giving out free updates. That's harder for us.

With a major update every 2 months in TF2 (Medic+Pyro+Heavy till now) soon the cost of updates will be much more than the game's cost :O.

They want to corrupt valve with their money making stupid schemes now.....

valve games sell because they provide such good updates and appreciation to mod community...map and all....and these corporate a$$es want to spoil tht too....

Hope valve stays as Valve is clean and good...

If Microsoft and Sony had its way we will have to pay for steam too.....

That way we will all switch over to ahem stuff and the whole freakin purpose is lost....:bleh:

yeah. as far as i know orange box has been successful more on pc than consoles.only couple of people i know own an orange box on console and the graphics $uc£

Ha ha ha. Go consoles and "marketting".

And frankly, these updates aren't something Valve could actually charge money for. It's just a few new maps and items.
PC gamers are used to getting a whole lot more for free.

lol Sony. Allowing Incognito to deliver 5 free updates for Warhawk (all bringing in new content) over the last year and wanting to charge Valve :P
