Laptops mac book or slimmer lappy??

I have an acer 5745G I5 n 330M based lappy,
Serves its purpose can play games ,HD movies and do CAD like crazy,
now im done with it and its all just bulk,

want something smaller lighter portable. I have a milestone xt720 which I use as a portable media device .... use the lappy again for converting/downloading videos for the same.

Is the Macbook air 13" a fit replacement when it comes to movies/conversion and some heavy browsing?
or maybe a slimmer lappy like the new dell xps piece or rather stick to this only ?
 
take the macbook air.will handle everything you have mentioned and its incredibly light.my cousin has one and its as powerful as my mbp to be honest.i regret taking the mbp instead of the air.go for it
