Hey guys..

I am installing Mac 10.5.6 (iPC) on my Dell Studio 15.. just wanted to know if someone has already tested tht out.. dont know how smooth it will be.

Checked insanelymac forums but really dint get the exact stuffs am looking for.. they have guides on for Vostro, etc.

..Any helps from Mac users here or ppl who've tried Mac on their lappies.

Dell Has:
Ati 3450
Broadcom 4312 wifi
Bluetooth

...Help me out guys, thanks in advance.

You'l spend months trying to make it work and end up with a half ass system and a lot of frustration, buy a mac if you want to..

This wont be worth the trouble..

try the base install first ..then use verbose

(-v) mode to see where the boot up fails...

do not install patches you are not sure of...

i am trying this on p5b deluxe MOBO with the

new iPC release..no luck so far..

i need to test some particular features of OSx before buying one

Try Kalyway before iPC. Its pre-patched and usually works out of the box.

What do you mean by pre-patched here?

All distros are pre-patched obviously and iPC 10.5.6 has far more comprehensive support in terms of drivers for audio/graphics etc. including majority of fixes/patches released till date.

I've used both and iPC is as close as you can get to a real mac.

hmm.. this is frustrating already.. it was sort of messo my Desktop!

Well so what should i do on the lappie.. after i dont wana mess up my lappie.

Rite now ist pretty smooth with Windows and Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.

Then let it stay smooth..I have a vostro and inspite of all the guides, things work randomly, and theres almost no logic why sometimes somethings dont work..:@
After hours of fiddling, its really not worth..Try running on a virtual machine or something, that would be much better..:cool2:

Already done on VMware.. and its sooooooooo mmuuuuuuuuuchhhhhhhhhhhh vvvvvvvvvverrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy vvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeerrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy sssssslllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

I guess its just pure luck for ppl like The Alchemist who get it working and stable :) :( :)

[o.t] I'm also one of the few lucky people :P who have got the Mac to run on their PCs. I'm using the iDeneb 10.5.5 on my HP dv6516 laptop for the past few months without any problems. The only problem as of now is that the system does not sleep. But I can live with that. Otherwise its fast, beautiful, and I just love keynote. :) [/o.t]

Don't you think that's a serious problem? Cause the sleep function is the most important thing in a laptop IMO. I wouldn't run and OS on my laptop which has a broken sleep function.

And have you tried any patch for it?

^^ Tried a couple of patches, but couldn't get it to work. My laptop is the only PC I have right now, and it is switched on 24x7 for browsing and downloads, doing its duty as a desktop. Even in Vista, I never use standby or hibernate. So it makes not much of a difference to me.

ANyways, I'm gonna format my laptop fully in a few days time, and try triple booting Vista, Windows 7 and MacOSX. Will try to find an alternative workaround for the sleep problem then. :hap2:
