No M4 upgrade for the Air yet, likely to help sell the Pro lineup first.

Now available in space black and silver finishes, the 14-inch MacBook Pro includes the blazing-fast performance of M4 and three Thunderbolt 4 ports, starting with 16GB of memory, all at just $1,599.

MacBook Air is the world’s most popular laptop, and with Apple Intelligence, it’s even better. Now, models with M2 and M3 double the starting memory to 16GB, while keeping the starting price at just $999 — a terrific value for the world’s best-selling laptop.

The price drop on the MacBook Air is really good. Right now, you can pick up a refurbished M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM starting at $899 and student, employee, Apple Card etc discounts should stack on top of this, so its $800 for a 16gb macbook. Wow

is M4 pro with 14 core, 24gb ram and 512gb ssd sufficient for app and blockchain developments :angelic:
It’d have been a dream to have that couple years ago. Should be more than sufficient unless you have known high workloads. Heck, a lot of people made do with a lot less than that early in their careers or in college.
Usually resale value is a strong point of Apple devices but this generation will definitely piss some M1/2/3 users off.
Eh, why?

M4 Mini pricing is too competitive. For M4 Macbooks 16gb is base now, so both 8gb and 16gb M1/2/3 value will tank. Apple was charging 20k for 8gb->16gb upgrade and that just evaporated.

On top of that M1 Macbooks are selling new for <50k. So a 4 year old used M1 Air that the owner bought for 90k, the value will be around 35k. I don't think this steep drop has happened for used Macbook value ever. This is even slightly worse than what is usually the case for Windows laptops.
