Saw this on IGNPC today... lets hope its a PC release :D

UK, August 17, 2007 - That cheeky German ratings board - the USK - has done it again. This time it's revealed that Take-Two is set to unveil a sequel to its mobster action game Mafia, during the Leipzig Games Convention next week.

While the title won't be playable at the show, Mafia 2 will be shown in trailer form. However, apart from the fact the trailer's rated 16 years and over, the USK's listing doesn't provide a great deal of info about the follow-up. Looks like we'll just have to wait until the event kicks off next week to find out more.

WOW one of the best games i've ever played, so much depth so much character development. i'll hold my head for this..

I wonder how the storyline would go, since tommy is already dead...It might be a completely different story this time.... and then it would be hard to call it a "sequel".

maybe it would be from someone else's perspective... that would be cool....

hopefully this time the cop AI will be more fair. :)

2K Games will publish Mafia 2, a sequel to the original Mafia title (that sold more than two million copies worldwide no less) that helped popularise the gangster genre.

Featuring a deep mobster-driven narrative and both behind-the-wheel and on-foot action, Mafia 2 "is the sequel fans have been clamoring for" says 2K. We bloody hope so.

The game is being developed by Illusion Softworks, developers of the original Mafia title, for next generation consoles and Games for Windows.

Like the original Mafia title, Mafia 2 immerses players in the mob underworld of a fictitious late 1940s-early 1950s scenario. We're told that we will become engaged in the game's cinematic Hollywood movie experience with strong, believable characters in a living, breathing city.

"As the original Mafia was a big success, we are excited to leverage the power of next generation console technology to create an all-new experience, while embracing the elements that resonated with the previous game's fans," said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K. "The 'wow' factor of Mafia 2 is definitely the benchmark-setting visual quality and action that you expect to see only in Hollywood movies."

mafia is one of the best gta clones 2 ever hit the pc , lets hope for a good one again :P with better gfx

Its not a GTA clone pal...
More like a similar genre at the most, with a storyline and plot. Even game play was radically different!

I disagree, Mafia was like the the realisitic version of gta and i loved it for that - i mean i got a kick out of starting an insane chase by breaking a traffic light.... :)

I hope it's exactly like the original. Also the new guy could be Tommy's son out for vengence:cool2: (I think he had a kid ......I forget, was a long time ago). In any case Mafia was a classic which you could play over and over again.:hap2:
