MIT CSE passout here bro...MIT is better than VIT anyday..and dont worry abt studies..if u really want to make ur mark, u'll get ample opportunities...apart frm that, its a gr8 4 yr experience...do go if u get a chance...and do choose CSE over EnC and EnE...they really suck in Manipal

CSE okay, thanks bro all of you for your inputs. Please keep pouring more if there is. I have 1-2 days to make a decision.

Being in MIT CSE myself, I really think you're being sarcastic :)

I think he meant CSE is good, the others aren't.

But I know from my sources that mechanical is supposedly the best at Manipal?

Mech is best here, but they make you work a lot..

Actually, some of the CSE faculty is pretty weird here, thats what I was refering to...

(Wont affect your course in a negative way, just that you will have to do a little bit more studies before exams )

Mhh, lol lawts of MAHE supporter.

Well, Mechanical department is trong in any college, becuause of the fact that the faculty in such department stays long with the college,
idk what the reason but they wont move or switch, eventually providing the college with strong experienced faculty.

I am not here to rage wars or blindly support my college, cause I know there are way better NITs and REC out there.

Manipal is costly, and so SRM and college`s you get in through CET such as : PESIT, Ramya, DayanandSagar.
VIT placement are strong, better cause of managmen`ts good links + good inflow of merit.

The decision is yours, I will suggest to take a real life friend advice to findoff the pros and cons of two college and thereafter take your decision.
Regards!!

There, but keep in mind my rank and the probability of me getting a good course.

THe big question, will I get a good course with a 8394 rank in VIT? Somebody please answer this.

DCE is out, wont get any good course, but I think I'll cut for the 3,4,5th ranking NITs, I hope so. IIIT yeah, BIT Mesra, MNIT Jaipur, all on my hitlist.

EDIT:

I won't need a loan, but really, I think least I can give out of my preparation, to my parents, is a good college with sane fees.

------------------------

Two things,

Consider how much financial backing you'll get from your parents at the moment. I'm sure by the time you're in your final year you'll be prepping for MS/MBA. Keep higher studies in mind. I'd keep the loan option open for Masters not Undergrad.

second thing,

I'm a little surprised reading that spreadsheet. You'll be able to land that kind of package anywhere with half tution fees. But obviously lifestyle will be a struggle.

Go to a college w/ sane Undergrad fees and good placement record. I'm pretty sure that with your profile (AIEEE rank) you won't rest with just a placement.

Thanks guys, thanks everyone for helping out. I'll be back again with a new thread and some new confusion of mine once the AIEEE online counselling starts though.

Dude let me tell you something, in engineering, you shouldn't see faculty, how they teach etc. You should learn on your own. If you don't know how to study on own, then higher studies will be tougher for you. Never depend on faculty, prof etc. Now regarding your confusion in VIT or MIT, afaik MIT is more fun. But if you want to have fun, you can have it on any place on earth with good friends :P But super hawt girls in MIT :D

So decide upon placement. But have you now only made up your mind about doing job after engg ? If you plan do MS or higher studies, so placement won't be a problem.

So we checked on Fun / Girls, placement. If either of doesn't concern you, then decide on fee. Whichever is easier to afford for you chose them.

PS - I am in normal VTU Engineering college, in 6th sem, CSE. I am quite happy here and my CGPA is 9.2 :P My fee is just 30k*8 :bleh: I plan to do MS :)

Hmm, I plan to do an MBA, I'll try for abroad but not immediately. Maybe after working 1-2 years(prepare for exams till then)
