The 2D side-scroller title for XBLA was announced by Klei Entertainment yesterday through a neat little text adventure on their website before revealing the short teaser. The game emphasizes on stealth and tactical play over hack and slash.

Klei Entertainment seems to be on a roll. First Shank and now straight to a Ninja, NAICE!

Indie studio Klei Entertainment, the developers that brought Shank and Shank 2 have set their sights on a brand new adventure for gamers, called Mark of the Ninja. In it, you play a ninja in the grand old style of choose your own adventure text stories and....

Wait. Text story? With a ninja character? Something doesn't seem quite right here. And indeed, checking out the website, something isn't right. Or rather, something not quite expected and very intriguing is happening here. Klei Entertainment has decided to do some serious format mixing to present a very unique take on the stealth fighting experience.

Or at least, that's what they're telling us for now. So head on over to Mark of the Ninja and try it out. You know you want to. And when you're done, your interest will be peeked and you'll (hopefully) be just as excited for more info on this game as we are. Mark of the Ninja is due to release in the Summer of 2012.

Ah crap! Looks like we both unveiled the thread around the same time. Could you please delete my thread?

I should've created the thread yesterday when I noticed the post on Facebook but decided to complete Shank 2. Social networking seems to have come a long way!

I did too. However, I was too dizzy after playing American Nightmare last night, so decided to crash almost instantly.

FEZ? Never heard of it.

Although, I'm picking up another XBL summer arcade title alongside Mark of the Ninja; Dust: An Elysian Tale.

^ FEZ has a wonderful art design and gameplay is interesting too.

The Flying thing in Dust is so annoying i want to kill her

I'll take a look at the gameplay, once I'm home. Need more consoles titles, now that I have a big screen to game on. :D

^ FEZ has a 8 bit gameplay structure. Plays like Paper Mario/Crush (PSP). Changing view and 3D to 2D perspective. Really love it.
Dust: An Elysian Tale - Released recently? Done by single dev, right?

Looks very good to me almost similar to Deadlight , I'm picking up the game asap

Got the game. Will complete Darksiders II tonight and start this game, as it's only 5 hour long campaign. :)

Since no one else is talking about it, I'll just go out and say, this is the BEST XBLA game till date. Yeah, you heard that right. I almost about to complete the title and found it so engaging, that it was hard to let go off it. Salutations are in order to Klei Entertainment for transitioning so marvelously from a game like Shank to Mark of the Ninja. I mean, we are talking about 2 distinct genres here, each with their own audience. Even though, we see the their patented animated cut-scenes leaving a small imprint of Shank, they are always welcome.

There is so much to do in this game and immense amount of replay value. Everything about this game is brilliant. The visuals, the sound effects, gameplay, presentation etc. each and every detail is well executed. The game runs flawlessly @60fps and with high quality cut-scenes. The level design in this game is amazing. The rainy climate along with the lightning effects are rendered to perfection. Music is very tense and fits perfectly to the whole secretive theme.

But what's a Ninja game without a good gameplay style. This is where the game hits a high note. You can approach the game anyway you want; Stealth or kapow! The latter isn't really recommended, unless you end up in a very sticky situation or you just want to rush through the game. The stealth kills are awesome and I mean, AWESOME. I say this because, even though, they are merely one combo away, the execution is done in style. On a related note, the upgrades in this game grants you access to even cooler move sets, which makes the game even more interesting. You have access to kunais, smoke bombs, grappling hooks, noise maker, distraction flare, Spike mine, Terror dart etc. as your set of equipment. You can select the load-out before and during each mission. There are fair amount of collectibles as well.

The part which made me really happy about this game is that it has treated this game with a very honest Ninja style. At no point in the game, will you ever feel that it's cheap or bee executed poorly. This is quality work put in by the devs and without a shadow of a doubt, this years XBLA GOTY.
