Hi,
I have a maxtor external harddrive 500 gb which I bought some 10 months ago. I have whole lot of precious data stored in that(x files,friends movies and all that :)now suddenly it has stopped working I suspect some wiring got lose in the casing. I want to get it repaired without losing my data.
Tried to search on their website, not user friendly, couldn't find exactly how to get the repair center in hyderabad where I am based. only thing mentioned is they would get it exchanged but that means I lose my data which I don't want.I have a 3 years warranty which I might lose if I take it to some local vendor, so want a authrised dealer who could solve my problem. anybody can suggest any dealer in Hyderabad.

At times, Maxtor drives don't show up when you connect them/are not detected/it says the drive is unformatted. If any of these issues, just try reconnecting a few times before you come to a conclusion.
PS: did you format the drive/select performance mode?

u are second person same problem with maxtor i am scared of externals now. i so want one but cant find a reliable one.
