Hello fellow members,

what would be a best budget mechanical keyboard? I'm considering Aula f87.
Need your suggestions to see if there are any better options.

Mention your budget, size & switch expectations, also look into north vs south facing LEDs as backlight is useless in the latter type.

If you can live with south facing LEDs, look at Attack Shark X98PRO or RK S98. These have linear switches, great for gaming.

I bought RK100 as I wanted a usable backlight on my keycaps & a brown switch. Remapped top right keys for play/pause, vol down & vol up.
I dont do game at all. Just baisc office work and market. I checked RKS98. its out of budget for me. max to max 5-7K can spend.

I’ve got a CIY GAS67(wired) that’s fully built and modded which hasn’t been seeing much use. Although it’s not 80% like you mentioned as your requirement, let me know if you’re interested.

Other than that Aula F75 is indeed a popular option, one of my friends has it and it seemed pretty decent for the price when I tried it out.

ATTACK SHARK X98PRO Wireless Gaming Keyboard

Does the volume knob work without having to press the Fn button ?

Lets say I am playing youtube video or playing music in media player. Can I use the Knob to volume down / up / play / pause ?

Check online reviews. It might be a reskin of some other popular KB. Seems like Ajazz AK980.

i think akko swiches are great, if you dont have a big budget on mechanical keyboard then you should buy a cheap hot-swappable keyboard and buy akko swiches separately and it will be a great combo.

Aula F75 is a common choice around that size, can check RK options as well.

F87 is wired, looks good for the price. Check options in meckeys & genesispc.
I have the F75, and it's a brilliant keeb for the price, and feels (much) better built than my old RK84. Also sounds and feels creamy AF to type on. I have the Graywood Switches.

The F87 is wireless and seems to have good reviews, as well. You'd be missing out on volume knob, though. I don't know how important that is to you.

Currently using a Skyloong SK87 with Gateron Brown switches, pretty happy with it. Not much of a gamer, mostly typing/productivity use. Using with 2 different systems (mac and pc) simultaneously, speed of switching is ok as well. You can lookup similar config keyboard maybe, since believe this might be too old /unavailable now.

These seem similar, do go through few specific review comments though -

Honestly, seems too many choices these days and makes it difficult to choose from :)
