So the eBay Deals of the week are out and featured this time are Media Players. I am looking to buy one as I hv a DVD player which supports USB but suffers bad frame rate while playing high quality/high detail scenes and hence was suggested by various members on TE to buy a media player instead (http://www.techenclave.com/consumer-electronics/help-low-frame-rate-dvd-player-168447.html)

So now I hv two options, one is the Amkette Flash Media Player for 1990/- and the other is the NBox HDTV Media Player for 1650/-. Any advice which one to go for and whether these would be able to play all files seamlessly?? Anyone has any experience with any of the above mentioned players?? I am not looking to spend too much on this piece of hardware so all the higher end version with 1080p resolution and everything are not an option. Looking to buy just a simple media player which can play the movies seamlessly and without any skipping/stuttering/struggling. Any and all advice is welcome and thanks for your help in advance guys. Appreciate it :D.

^^ I suggest you contact Manu as he has just got the Nationite HDVP2 from ebay India for less than 5K. It plays almost all formats, supports 2.5" interal HDD, is network complaint.

All good options but unfortunately, I am not looking to spend a whole lot on this as I don't hv much utility for the advanced features. Hv budgeted about 2-2.5k for this as thts the price in which I can get a high end DVD player which does not hv the issues I am facing currently. Anyone has any feedback on the Amkette and the NBox???

+1 for the Nationite HDVP2 - I was shocked to see the formats it supported and the price it retailed for. The downside is no spdif outs on the unit but unless you have an AVR or a speaker system that accepts digital inputs, you can live with this.

HDVP-2 is on sale at $69 on mp4nation.net but it is a preorder since they are getting a fresh stock with updated firmware so it might take some time till it gets to you.

Out of Amkette and Nbox 2nd gen, go for Nbox. A friend of mine has this and it works very well if you are satisfied with up to 720p and no HDMI. It plays almost all formats, especially .mkv which Amkette does not support. It also supports both composite and component so can work on both old and new TVs. The seller is also nice, my friend got it from the same person.

^ Yes, I was aware of the one listed on ebay.in and it is definitely a good choice for somebody not wanting to wait. I was just pointing out that mp4nation.net have dropped prices for this, at least for the preorder. Nationite is the in-house brand of mp4nation.net.

Just ordered the HDVP2 on the mp4nation site along with the wifi dongle for net $79.50. Just keeping my fingers crossed to receive it safely without any duties/ FPO hassles.

Update. Received the HDVP2 today after about a month of ordering it. And its a splendid piece of technology. I'm going to test all kinds of files over this weekend but it handled most of the movie files from my maxtor external HDD.

Very happy with the deal :)
