Need to buy an HD Media player for my parents. Presently we are using a CRT TV which takes RCA input. But in a few months (or 1 year) we will upgrade to an LCD TV.
I have tried to show them how to play movies on the computer/laptop. But they find it a bit complex and the screen size is small. So need to buy an HD media player which has both RCA output and HDMI output.

These are the my options -
1. Amkette Flash TV HD(1080p) - http://www.tradus.com/amkette-flash...b-micro-sd-card-usb-reader/p/ELA0000004491524
2. Asus O! Play Mini - http://www.ebay.in/itm/ASUS-O-Play-...=IN_DVD_Players_Recorders&hash=item2a31491f6e

The Techtree review and user review for the Amkette player is quite good. It can play all the formats that they have tried.

Should I buy the Amkette player? Do they have good after sales service? Or should I buy the Asus player?
Should I buy online or should I hunt for a deal in the local market. Don't know if the Amkette player is available locally.

Both the players are good.

How tech-savvy are your parents - in the sense are they comfortable going thru' multi-menus? Check out the menu structure for each (normally given in the reviews) and ask them to decide depending on the ease of interface.

@Jambumali As far as I can see, both the Amkette and Asus players index all the files present in the pen drive/memory card/HDD and put them in separate lists(Audio/Video/Pictures). So this would help my parents as they will be able to play the files using lesser number of button presses.
Both the remotes have quite big buttons.

Just noticed this player too - http://www.flipkart.com/cubetek-hd-media-player/p/itmdgwfmsgz3de3z?pid=SELDGZDDMHSHZWFF (Cubetek HD Media player)
Other than the unknown branding, reviews are pretty positive on both Flipkart and Snapdeal.

Go for Asus Omini...

- Plays all formats (FLAC was mine most desired format)
- has RCA/HDMI/Optical out port
- there is higher model Asus HDP R1 with LAN port (2 USB ports)
- Price is very reasonable bought R1 for 4800 in 2011
- good community support at moservices (Google it), (recently i changed its FW and now it supports 3TB drives too !)
- with other FW you can chose whatever GUI is suitable for you/parents
- Good after sales service ( i never required till date)
