Camera Memory Card for Camera

Hi, I have a Kodak 10 mp digital camera. The internal memory just supports 5 pics.
I have a MMC card 1GB for my Nokia mobile, tried inserting it, but does not work. Is the card not meant for camera?
Then which other card should I get & how much pics. backup will it give me?
Also, please quote the aprox. prices.
 
Whats the diff. between SD/SDHC & MMC, also full form of SD?
MMC won't work?
Prices for 2/4GB cards?

if your cam supports SD you should be able to use MMC also ,not sure whats the issue your are facing.Right now i am at work :mad:,cant access some websites where i can check prices.Will post the prices later.MMC and SD are similar i guess not sure :ashamed:
 
Ok thanks, I was able to put in the MMC card, but on switching on, the LCD read - "insert memory card", so probably did not support it.
Did this 2-3 times, but didn't work. Its a Kingston MMC card.

@Toxic, yes Kodak site also suggests SD/SDHC cards. I was just wondering why MMC wasn't functioning.
Any idea about aprox. prices?

MMCs are so passe...:hap5:

I suggest you get yourself a SD or SDHC card !

4GB SDHC Class2 ~ 600-700bucks

2GB SD ~ Around 400

Not very sure bout prices,other members can confirm !
 
try frmatting MMC card .
i have PANASONIC LZ8 i use 2GB SD & 512MMC card with it..........n MMC card works but it's very slow .....

keep that MMC card for ur mobile phone only get new SD /SDHC card

2gb SD(Secured Digital) card KINGSTON 350bucks
2GB SD local/unbranded 175bucks

Though MMC can be used with LZ8, there are limitations in certain fuctions.

Thanks, that cleared a lot of things. I was a little stuck on MMC as I had one & thought could save some bucks. A local dealer quoted 600/- for 1GB Memory card, I asked why was its price so steep, he replied, its for a 10mp. camera, so quality & speed is high.
But from the prices given by you, I could go in for a 4GB card.

Wat the hell??? Unless its a sandisk extreme 1gb card,that guy is just taking you for a ride !!! Shoot him !

Invest in a good SD/SDHC card now and don't worry bout it again rather than saving a few bucks!

1. Don't get an SD but an SDHC (for 4GB and higher), preferably Class 6. (high speed)
2.Format the card only in the camera.

Yes, you are right, I should invest in a good card, I've made up mind on 4GB SDHC, will go around tomorrow to find out.

@Janitha, yes I would opt for 4gb SDHC. Any idea how many 10mp pictures can it store or the duration of video it can shoot?
