Which one should I go for ? Anyone wants to get rid of their RAM ? :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

about the corsair ones..

the ones with the C3 in their names mean they run at 3-3-3-8, while the other runs at 2.5-3-3-8. i have the second ones and they are of excellent quality, very stable with high scores in any memory benchmark i've thrown at it.but they are not oc'able...i've reached a max of 210 mhz on each after which memtest gave errors.so if you dont plsn to oc i'll recommend them anytime.

about the transcend..i've not used them myself, but i think they have better oc'ing capabilities compared to the corsair. but i'm not sure.

Its plain and simple.

If u plan to OC then Corsair Value Select is not ur cup of tea,'cos these module perform better than all other RAM's in general usage, but are highly resistent to OC'ing.

Transcend specially the Hynix D-43 and Samsung UCCC chip based are really good overclockers. These ones are proven overclockers. They might not perform as well as Corsair in general usage and in Benchies but worth buying over Corsair

^^exactly what i said..:)

in short..

corsair - much better in general usage but bad overclockers.

transcend - not as good in general usage but good overclockers.

as you dont plan to oc, i'll say go for corsair..it's much better performance.

Eh how on earth are you guys comparing a ram brand with a ram IC :P. There are lots of corsair sticks with UCCC or D43. Corsair puts the cheapest available chips into its valueselect line. I'd avoid it like plague. There's no guarantee what u'll get. Also how exactly do you justify the statement "much better for general usage" as in if corsair VS with unknown chips do the same timings as say a transcend stick with UCCC chips how does corsair become better :P? If I were you shakensoul, i'd look for ram with samsung UCCC or micron 5BD/BF chips thats it. I'd hardly care about brandnames as long as the ram has 3 yrs of warranty support.

Who out of Kingston, Tanscend and Hynix have above chips? How to find it? Is the same written on chips?:ashamed:

I think the price didn't makes more diffrent as I compare with NewEgg price with indian currency. And may be warranty issue so it's better to buy in India.:)

Infact for Kingston RAM my source give me Rs.400 less than Normal Price at Lemington Road

known site who ship to india ? Anyone tried it before ?

Contact Chaos!

stupid me..should have thought about that..
thanks for pointing it out @chaos..

actually my memory hasnt yet gone bad on me..hence i had recommended corsair..:P

but yes..he should actually look for the ram chip..

Finally bought 2x512 MB Corsair Value Select DDR400 VS512MB400 at 2.8k :ohyeah: :ohyeah: per piece from Computer Empire, Transcend was quoted at around 3.2k per piece and corsair around 3.4k at SMC, never asked again, grabed the corsair ones before the dealer could change his mind.

Is that a good price ???

good buy..i dont think you'll regret it..:) ..
if you're lucky, you might get a good chip on this..i've seen people achieve 230+ mhz on corsair VS at timings like 3-3-3-8.
and i'm yet to hear anyone complaining about it at stock.
i had bought mine for around 2.5 k..but that was 3-4 months back..
and ram prices have jumped till then..

not sure about the current prices..but they are a bit high..
