Metal gear solid franchise is indeed a strong selling factor for Sony’s consoles and it’s been proven all the time. But for konami's famed creator Hideo Kojima- it’s a matter of pride for sequels and prequels. Boost in sales, dedicated forums for this franchise, a gigantic legion of loyal fans who will defend any absurd twist in the plot to the utmost vilification of those who oppose them says it all. There was a case when Hideo Kojima faced multiple death threats when he about to throw the towel on his creation snake eater. Even though his return isn’t exactly a reason to celebrate, a game is going to be made. Forcing anyone to make a game in exchange of his life will not be entertained at all. Don’t be surprised if he says "I was bullied when I planned a retirement" in most of his interviews when this game releases. Also in some interview, Kojima was seriously disappointed on the game that game looks good but the story feels shallow. Partially- maybe the fact that we were forced into this and he didn’t in his will power.
For some game veterans, this series is stretched to a great extent, but it’s the driving force to buy this game and play that counts. A lot has changed in the mgs world since sons of liberty and subsistence. That title's change to support a top-down, 360 degrees camera which was brought in snake eater will not prepare for what is in store for guns of the patriots. Therefore it’s clearly understandable that this will be an evolution point of the game snake eater over guns of the patriots, though it was a direct sequel to the latter. Guns of the patriots will have plethora amount of close quarter’s combat, lack of classic radar and finding your own hiding place is one of the new additions of the game. In layman's terms they are planning just like what is inshore for far cry 2 title-no where to hide. If you played the mgs series, there was a time you will get the same feeling when you were navigating through the jungles of guns of the patriots, where you would have to be more cautious then other series.
In terms of sound, gunfire will suffice many fans’ need for good sound. The sound of gunshots, muffled explosions and multiple scattered bursts of automatic weapons will add a welcome juxtaposition to the hi-tech in game score. To spice it up, background sound will include anything which spells "war and chaos". Unlike sniper wolf's lair in mgs, tanker section Sons of liberty and burning forest in snake eater, guns of the patriots will have its own moment. However, unlike the previous sequels, just like all sequels, this game will display confidence and guile in the way everything has been fine-tuned to deepen your sense of immersion.
The fact this game will be in playstation 3's blu ray format, this game will excel and brake barriers in stellar class acting and sound. Blu ray gave abundant access to kojima productions unparallel levels of high quality and uncompressed sound and earth shattering (literally) effects. Seeing Hideo Kojima's list of creations-boktai for gba, zone of the enders for ps2, snatcher in multi format and one of the my old favorites penguin adventure- he would have included all this in the previous titles for playstation 2, unfortunately the limited DVD space limited great skills that this productions has. Blu ray has turned the con into a pro and mgs4 will be one of the few which will try to take a full advantage of this stellar difference. As expected from trailers, artworks and cut scenes, it’s not enough to predict the true potential which will be churned out. There seem to be no boss fights, at least on the clips that I have seen.
One of the truly effective features in guns of the patriots if the threat meter but unfortunately it may not be a part since sonny has put the rumble back in the playstation nex-gen console. The meter is simply an extension of a circular based on the psp title-mgs: portable ops and its pretty simple. A gold ring will appear when snake is relatively close to an enemy activity. The ring's opacity will fluctuate based on how you move. This is originally implemented to keep the game balance, but there is a chance that will would be replaced with vibration, and if a player wants more real play, all he has to do is turn off the vibrations. Having this said, control will be a factor in this game. Kojima's attempt to strip down the HUD panels to a minimum will force player to use his visual senses. This is a bold move that Kojima deserves to be saluted but the control was another ball game. Returning to the mgs universe after a span of 3 years reveals that little has changed since 2005. In fact, with upto 3 buttons used in combo for one move, the game would be confusing for some- including for people who is following up the game from this title. The transition from sixaxis to dual shock 3 has taken Kojima for a toss. Let's hope that he gets it all right for this future game of the year in the playstation 3 format.
This title will be more freeform then its predecessors but don’t compare it with any present open world game...yet. It’s clearly as stealth based action game, you’re free to improvise on your hiding skills. You can jump into lockers and peek through it and take a plunge in a dust bin and get dirty. The sixaxis controls will be used to peek into bins and peek around corners as well. Also it’s been said that one can shake the pad furiously to change the snake's octocamo. This is one of the great add-on which will reset the camo back to the standard and a more desirable black suit. So all you playstation 3 users, it’s my recommendation to look forward to this game. But for new time snake fans, better play the previous versions if you want to figure out how the series is going through.
