MGS 4 Not a PS3 Exclusive Anymore?

Don't jump of a cliff just or slash your wrists yet, it's still a rumor, but it seems Metal Gear Solid may no longer be a franchise exclusive to the PlayStation as Konami may be bringing MGS 4 to the Xbox 360 as they feel there may not be that many PS3 units to make the game profitable.

Gaming website noooz.com, who by the way are the people behind this piece of news (or rumor) state that their information is pretty accurate as they "rarely run news unless they’re 100% confident".

Is this a trend started by Assassins Creed? All will be revealed in time; expect an official announcement this week.

Not happening.

Fact No.1 : There's a cutscene in the game which has Ottacon hyping up the CELL technology in his robot which he sent after Snake to monitor him. The way he describes it, it almost feels as if he's hyping up the CELL in the Ps3.

Fact No.2 : The game makes heavy use of SIXAXIS technology.

Fact No.3 : Hideo Kojima himself has stated that MGS4 will be Ps3 exclusive. He said that it is possible to port Mgs4 over but didn't confirm he will. He'll have to make a lot of changes in the game to remove that referrence to CELL (which can distrupt the storyline a little) and SIXAXIS.

On the second note, the game has been in production since well over a year now - Specifically designed for the Ps3.

Final Fact No.4 : Its not coming to X360. Other MGS games can, but definitely not MGS4.

The same goes for Final Fantasy.

You took the words right outta my mouth.Kojima did say tht he was impressed by the Wii and he might make something for tht console if given the chance and it will not be mgs as mgs always have been and always will be a PS exclusive.

Wonder who started this rumour..same like the one where a site said tht brutes are playable in halo 3 only to see tht bungie addressing the rumour as false.

EDIT:Just checkd out some sites..apparently some ppl are saying tht mgs4 will be released to 360 after it's ps3 release (Imagine the violent reaction of the loyal Jap fans).Checked out some old interviews of kojima where he did say tht he felt indebted to Sony on mgs series and porting this to 360 would mean higher developmental costs and more staff recruitment.

Pls God for once..let there be good news for SONY! Hell,I'll run naked through the whole city if you wan't..just to make this happen.

Allright,got this info

he internet was aflutter with rumours this weekend, as reports speculated that the massive PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid instalment, Guns of the Patriots was stealthing its way over to Xbox 360 - rumours that Konami has since debunked to CVG.

"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."

The original internet report pointed at the MGS instalment branching-out onto multiple platforms due to Konami's concerns that there won't be enough PS3s in gamers' hands by the time it hits shelves.

Though going by the company's official word, it looks like there'll be no Solid Snake action on Microsoft's console for the time being. We wouldn't totally rule out a 360 version in the long term, but you can bet the game will be exclusive to PS3 for at least a year.

We'll be sure to pipe up if Konami flips its stance.

Wow, you guys were quick to form a defence. Seriously MM, I don't think I've ever seen you acting so pathetically fanboyisitc before. Konami has never had any feelings for the X360(maybe they're just hard of learning). We'd much sooner see MGS4 on the Wii then we would on the X360.

Personally, I'd love to see what the X360 could do with MGS4.

Sorry, but that made no sense. Kojima is the creator and Konami are the developers and publishers of the game. Are you implying that they would be stabbing themselves in the back by sharing their game with MS?

Would have been great if there were no exclusives for any consoles.That way you could buy the console you like rather thn being forced to buy all of them to play all your fav. games.

I disagree. I think exclusives are important. I like my consoles having some identity.

And for the last para..Konami is pressurising kojima to port it to 360 even though he hates it..this is similar to resident evil 4 where shinji mikami (re creator) said tht he would rather get fired than port re4 to any other console..and tht it was only for gamecube.Eventually capcom backstabbed him by porting it to the ps2..a move where mikami is still unhappy even though capcom made such high profits.So in comparison..it might just happen where konami would port mgs4 to the 360 and going against kojima's decision of exclusivity.

Yeah, I think I already brought out whatever I had to about your immaturity in my previous post, but I see you've only taken it up a notch since then.

You want to pick on my typos? How about taking a lesson in comprehension before asking me about the Wii part? What I meant was as clear as it was typed. Kojima has always loved Ninty far more than he has ever loved MS and even then we'd never see a chance of MGS4 on the Wii.

As for the last part, I'm glad that Capcom backstabbed Shinji. This a business, not some political playground for creators to throw their unwanted bias around. It's all about profits and what's in the best interest for a developing team as a whole. I hope Konami does the same to Kojima.

I don't wanna spend a bomb to buy consoles like Ps3 only to play games like MSG4 or motorstorm.

lol i dont know why you people care? So whats wrong if the game comes out on Xbox, you still get it on PS3, so enjoy on your shiny PS3 ( whenever you get your hands on it ).

I will be happy to see the 3rd party game devs abandoning the so called exclusives and launch it on multi platform. Its business for the companies and end user is not bound to a console for a particular game.

P.S : Like it or not but cursing devs who ditch exclusives is nothing but fanboism.

Edit: Times are changing you i think a lot of exclusives(x360/ps3) will start going multi-platform for the single fact that it's not profitable just to be selling games on a single platform given the huge costs associated with developing these so called next gen games. While Kojima and Shinji might not like the fact that their beloved creations are being ported to other consoles but publishers in the end want their share of profits.

If both MGS4 and motorstorm comes to xbox360 , then there would be no reason for me to get a ps3 especially since halo 3 is not going to any other console.

An understandable sentiment but what I like about the gaming industry is that all the players(devs,producers) actually have a face, some identity. A huge amount of popularity behind console gaming is thanks to this fact. It's also more interesting this way. You don't see lots of forums dedicated to DVD hardware, now do you?

Yeah I remember that. In some interview Mikami stated that he would chop off his head before Re4 would get ported to any other system when asked about if Re4 will stay exclusive to Gamecube (which was before Capcom announced Ps2 port).

But I feel Kojima is in a much higher position than Mikami. Kojima Prod. is now almost like band of its own.

So very true, I feel many ports will be happening between Ps3-Xbox360.

But Mgs4 is Ps3's HALO, not any chance of it being ported.
