Android MI3 Indian ROm

Hello Friends,

Got the fabled MI3 recently from flipkart. Updated it thru OTA route. It was working fine. Then my wife noticed that her fav wallpaper (the phone is for her) is missing from wallpaper option. I reckoned the update might have come with changed images(The original wallpaper options were changed in system), I factory reset it.

Now the issue is all google apps are gone, no mi store either. I updated thru the OTA update. No google apps still. Flipkart app is also missing may be with a couple of others.

I than side loaded Google Play services & Google play store. But, I keep getting "Google play services has stopped working' error and can't access play store.What should I do?

1. I am downloading full Indian stable ROM from here. http://en.miui.com/download-101.html#334 Wll it restore google apps?
2. Has anybody got a link to ROM the phone comes from flipkart?
 
This was such a joke, xiaomi actually didn't get those google apps inside of system folder, instead they installed over the rom, hence the problem. I wonder how even Google let them do this kind of shit. Very unprofessional of them. Google should just cancel their GPL license or atleast warm them. I wonder how under Hugo barra, this happened. :/
 
@Kevin Lane, you have to apply first the v18 ROM if you dont want the hassle of installing the Google Framework and GApps on v23.
To install the V18 follow the instructions listed here
After that update it to the v23, you will have the GF and GApp intact; once a fresh update is done, reset and start installing apps and contacts sync.
There will no more be any Indian specific ROMs, only the global ROM applies to India too!
 
Mi says they are doing this and that, but in reality they are doing nothing. They are more concentrated on MIUI 6 at the moment; so even the bugs on MIUI 5, are now DIY stuff! Also now MI3 has been pulled off the Indian stores after selling roughly 95,000 units, will they be worried, No way!!
Usually the Global ROM is more or less Mi App specific, meaning they want their market i.e. Mi Market over Google Play Store. All transaction, infos, datas, whatsoever it is; pass through Mi's servers!

On factory reset, Phone had v16. Applied v23. First had a scare as phone couldn't connect to google servers. So, couldn't use play store etc. Internet was not working on browser too. Then that resolved itself about in half an hour after ensuring that my morning was made. Right now it seems everything is fine.

Missus loved a couple of wallpapers on v16 which were lost on update, Got them also finally. :)

I guess MIUI is meant to be there to remove most of the bloatwares that google or any other flagship manufaturers bring onto the table. In the process, it looks like they messed up the essentials as well :)
 
Just read that Xiaomi won't be selling anymore Mi3 even FK now shows Stock is over. Not sure if this is good news or bad
 
Anyone using the developer ROM? Are they any good? I've also seen an AOSP ROM from Ivan floating around which was compiled with original kernel sources..

Running the developer rom since 2 months. They are pretty good but i do find some glitches sometimes, nothing major. I have tried the AOSP as well and was unable to sync it with google so went back to using miui.

Also, how's the battery in the dev ROMs?

I couldn't get it to fetch my contacts and other data from google, no one else has reported this problem so might have something to do with my end. Battery life on dev is pretty good, with heavy usage and 3g data ON i am left with around 35-40% battery at the end of the day.
 
They seem to have pulled it from the download page.

Hi MIUIers,

Please note that we have suspended the download of MIUI 6 Stable Version for Mi 3/4. After this ROM released yesterday, we have received some feedbacks from some users about upgrade issues. So we decided to suspend the download. We will restore it once we clear out the problem.
