Hello,

After blowing my N79's keypad by very heavy messaging. I'm thinking to keep one backup mobile only for messaging, obviously the one having QWERTY keypad.

Was surfing Micromax website which is really awesome website. I never found it bore while surfing.
Micromax : Nothing like Anything

Micromax Q5fb and Q7 comes within range 4.5k to 5k. Are these phones really worthy? Will they last long? I heard they've improved build quality than their some initial phones.

I really want to see your responses about Micromax phone.. I really liked the features coming in that price range :)

Once again, I really liked their website. :D

I saw and handled Q5b.

Not great for typing....

Check LG GW300.....

It is around 4,750...

Really good phone...

Have used Micromax Bling phone.

Overall the phone looks passable. Not the sorts to make you feel sorry when you use it for a while.

Quite an array of unexpected features. OS doesnt seem to disappoint. The only problem (and the most major one at that) is the call quality.

I had to repeat my words few times while the other person was on Micromax and i was on Nokia/SE phone.

Camera was poor, but that was expected. As for your interest, Messaging experience was fine.

Otherwise for the price bracket it is in, it does not disappoint.

It can work as a backup phone very well.

^^ It was bad...

GW300 was better than that..

I tried both phones (My friends have both)..

I am using Micromax Q5fb from past 2-3 days & I am very much satisfied with its performance(apart from its camera) considering its price..i bought it as a backup cell but from past couple of days I am using it more then my Nokia cell :D..its a VFM handset & trust me u won't regret spending even less then 4k on it..
screen is great..keypad is nice too..trackball is good..connectivity is great(even right now I am using Q5 for this post :D)..only camera is disappointing & doesn't look like a 2MP cam at all..

Just get a e63 - the qwerty is almost on par with the likes of the blackberry's, or you could wait for the c3 to come out, it ll probably be priced around the 5K mark.

I used a friend's Q5 for 30 mins or so .. the build quality of the qwerty and the phone over all is abysmal in my opinion .

I am using Q5 for last few months and I feel very comfortable and happy with this. I was using blackberry earlier and used to qwerty phones. With the usability, to be honest, I don't see any different between Blackberry and Micromax. I like the build quality of their phones and in fact, they are far better than the recent models from top mobile companies like samsung, motorola.

I strongly feel that Micromax is lot better than these so called big players (nokia, motorola, samsung, etc) in all terms and it's only we that feel that lower priced phones are cheaper in quality.

P.S. I am no way related to Micromax or any other company. It is my humble opinion on the usage of these phones and thought that sharing my 2cents would clear few doubts over here.

Theres also one from Fly called the B430Ds, decent qwerty.. not sure how long it will last tho, should touch within that price range.

next is what? TATA Nano is better than VW Beetle?

@OP, please don't go for these shitty phones from dumb company. Just visit their service centre in jayanagar, bangalore once and you will understand. It's better be safe than sorry!

and those who think that micromax phones are better than phones from blackberry, get your eyesight and touch senses checked

Why was he dissatisfied any particular reasons?

I was thinking to buy it(micromax Q5).:(

u get what u pay for one of the big advantage these lower brands had was dual sim.....unless u want that u can go for corby txt in that same price range...

I will be honest with my opinion here. I saw a Blackberry'ish Micromax phone with a junior colleague of mine and at a distance I almost mistook it for a Blackberry. The phone had a 3.5mm jack (caught my eyes first!), a decent screen (almost as big as the E63 types) and a decent enough keypad. And when I mean decent, when you pay about 4.5k for it, you quite don't expect a keypad as good as the Nokia's or Blackberry's now do you! And there seemed to be a rockerball mechanism for scrolling and browsing within the contacts and the menu. And it functioned quite well. The build quality was okay'ish - I quite don't understand how people judge the build quality of phones - do they drop it from a distance and see if the phone still functions? Or do they do some sort of fatigue testing by putting the phone in some machine which would do everything in a brisk that an average human would in about the lifetime of the phone?! I think none of the phones may actually cross that test!

What came as a good surprise to me was the audio quality of the phone's output. I plugged my PL21 into it and the audio quality was quite awesome for a phone from this price segment - I use an iphone 3G and although the quality of the output isn't all that great, I found the micromax's output slightly better. It had a warm sound signature to it and the output did not crack at higher volumes.

IMO when you pay 4.5k for it, you get what you pay for. You shouldn't be probably expecting more. And IINM the phone comes with a silicone cover and a year's warranty as well. I'd buy it if I were to buy a standby phone. And these are my views.

^ Could you please check and let me know what model was it ? I am myself looking for a secondary Micromax dual sim phone.

Yeah will keep you posted. Go to the showroom with all the IEMs you have ATM and do a demo and keep us all updated. :P
