Hi guyes

I have been facing a peculiar problem in microsoft outlook2000 since yesterday.
All of sudden my outlook stoped to download the mail.I have tried to remove my old mail's but it did not allow me to delete also.my pst file size is 2.1gb .I have tried repairing pst file with scanpst.exe but it did not work at all.I am reciveing the error message saying that outlook.pst has reached its maximum sixe.
Pls help me out to rectrify this problem

delete all mails from the trash in ur pst file through outlook. now when size will decrease, backup the pst to another drive. make a new pst file and use it to read mails.

Once you recover from this, consider switching to Gmail. I stopped managing personal email offline after losing emails/data with Outlook/OE offline.

What File System does ur Outlook .PST reside in.

If ur FAT32, ur surely into a problem since ur filesize crossed 2gb, which is the maximum FAT32 can address. Any file above 2gb becomes corrupt.

Possible solution is that u just copy that file to an NTFS partition, locally or on netowrk & try to repair it. but chances are slim.. good luck. hope ur not on FAT32

Try booting into safe mode(with networking & then copy it over to some PC.

Or if possible, grab a WINPE CD or some live linux CD, boot from it so that there are no OS handles blocking on the File. Then copy it.

is it a PC or a Laptop, if PC, just take the hard disk & put it in some other system & try copying it.

Also worth trying is "chkdsk C: /F/X/R " command. But i w'd recommend backing the PST file before repairing it with chkdsk. It may regard it as orphan file & u may completely loose it.
