Nokia has unleashed their latest weapons (Lumias) into the market. With the Lumia 520 and 720, Nokia completes their entire line up from top to bottom with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform. With the Lumia 520 all the way to the Lumia 920, Nokia has an offering for every budget. Let's see how their new mid range Lumia 720 fares with the existing HTC 8S.

Nokia Lumia 720 v/s HTC 8S
Chipset
Both phones pack the same Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset that packs two Krait CPUs humming away at 1 GHz. The GPU is the new and refreshed Adreno 305, which is said to be as fast as the older Adreno 220 GPU (i.e. faster than these WVGA display phones will need).
Both phones come with 512 MB of RAM. Even though it's low, it doesn't limit the Windows Phone 8 platform and experience one bit.
Camera & Display
The Lumia 720 has a superior 6.7 MP Carl Zeiss lens compared to the 5 MP sensor on the back of the 8S. Also, the 8S lacks a front camera while the Lumia 720 packs a 1.3 MP front camera too.
The Lumia 720 has a 4.3 inch large IPS LCD display powered by Nokia's ClearBack technology which gives superior outdoor visibility. HTC's 8S on the other hand has a beautiful but smaller 3.8 inch Super LCD display. Depending on your size preference, you can decide if you want a larger display or the smaller SLCD one.
Design
The HTC 8S packs a really unique design, which isn't a direct shrink of the flagship HTC 8X design (we are happy for the phone has a unique look). The Lumia 720 looks more like a WP8 smartphone from Nokia, drawing heavy similarities (if not very very close to identical) to the Lumia 820 smartphone. Both phones have unique designs, and both designs are equally attractive.
Battery & Pricing
While the HTC 8S has a 1,700 mAh battery, the Lumia 720 dominates with it's large 2,000 mAh battery which promises to deliver a very long battery life. Well, we believe you Nokia.
The HTC 8S can be bought for as low as Rs. 17,799 making it an extremely attractive deal.
HTC 8S @ Rs. 17,799 - Saholic
The Nokia Lumia 720 on the other hand is expected to debut in a price range of Rs. 17,000 to Rs. 19,000. Either way, the pricing looks excellent and will give plenty competition to the HTC 8S, and be a very good option to those looking for a Windows Phone 8 handset in this price range.
