Tools reqd : Hair dryer, a Screwdriver set, Patience.

1. Disconnect everything from your mobo. Get it out, put teh anti-static sheet on a table, put the mobo on it.
2. Get a flat, thin screwdriver. (Something like this but as thin as possible - http://www.xtreem.nu/ajax/screwdriver.jpg) and get the one which is almost like a pin(or say a damn sharp pencil.)
3. Look for even the largest gap between the mylar clip and the metal clip.(http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/1299/1qv2.jpg)
4. Slowly put try to insert the flat screwdriver into the gap. one a part of it goes in, drag it along the edges of the plates so as to loosen the glue on the edges. Time to turn the hairdryer on. Keep inserting a larger portion of the of the screwdriver into the thing but very slowly and with the hair dryer turned and blowing air right onto both the plates.
5. Now, as the metal clip gets a bit loose, look for the sweet spot(loosest place) and shove the pencil like screwdriver in it and try to get the metal clip off. Not working ? Repeat step 4 then try again.
6. Now that you have taken the metal clip off, its time to get the mylar and the foam plate off(Please note that the whole foam plate will never come out without you damaging your mobo so don't try.) Use the flat driver(works like a knife now) and try to cut of the foam plate from as close to the mobo as you can. (Let the mylar be attached to the foam plate) Use a little bit of brute force here, but not with the screwdriver. Slice it off a bit and then pull(slow and steady; a jerk will ruin the foam plate) !
7. So now there's a small part of teh foam plate left on the mobo. Just try to peel it off with your hands. By now the glue under it should have become pretty loose cause of the hot air. So just carefully remove as much of it as you can. And voila ! You're done .....

PS : Using some alcohol or sumthing to get the foam plate off in step 7 might help , but i don't know if its ssafe to use it on the mobo. ..so ...

I will not be responsible for any screwed up mobos. Try at your own peril !

Cheers .... :)

Akshit i might sound kindda "show off" here but i have removed and installed TT BT in my super Lanboy(Which for the record is a cramped case) with a GFX card installed from the ASUS A8N Sli Dlx mobo atleast 3 - 4 times and then installed it back too :P... While everything in the case... My whole setup...

The trick is Big hands + Screwdriver + Patience + Skill + Weired face(Very Important)

U removed it with teh superglue ? :o :o .. I tried for like a week and then finally it came off.(PHEWWW)... so i thought it was tough ...

kahaan aap kahaan mein :P ... edit title to "Noobs guide to removing the TTBT" :D ..

dont tell me you couldnt get the TTBT oout of the mobo initially, and hence you had to write this article to explain "yourself" how to remove it..

anyways nice write up though ;)

*frust* Where was all of you when i was sweating it out tryin to remove the bloody thing !

I think, Akshit got the TtBT out but didn't know about the H-shaped SUPER STICKY foam that comes with TtBT for sticking to mobo b4 fitting the H-shaped backplate at the back of the mobo!!:cool2:

The TtBT is a direct fit on the 'A8N' series (A8N-E, SLI,...) mobo backplate!!:ohyeah:
No need to take off Original asus NF4 metal backplate!!

Those who use TtBT with the Tt H-shaped metal backplate and foam and stuff are better off leaving the 3M/butterpaper paper on the foam and mylar while fitting the H-shaped backplate!!:cool2:
Coz it doesn't have glue- its friggin super glue!!:@

And the Poor Akshit just got First Hand experience on how to take that foam+mylar superglued to the mobo, off the mobo:(
as he didnt know abt keeping the paper 'On' for reuse on another mobo!!

So you finally got it 'off' Akshit, good show!!:hap2:

iam stuck badly too :(

when i will change my mobo how will i remove the super sticky H-shaped foam plate :(

not to ruin this thread or something. but i found it really easy to remove the ttbt. i needed nothing to remove it except a small metal instrument to remove the 1st nutbolt. rest all just came off with my hand.

maybe u had not installed it right akshit
