I just upgraded to vista ultimate from winxp running on a nvidia 8800gtx, driving a samsung 997MB monitor. In winxp, I've been running my desktop at 1920x1440 @ 60Hz. But, in vista (or maybe nvidia driver), this rez option doesn't even appear in the Display Properties or in NV control panel resolution selection pages.

Any idea what the issue might be?
I know 60Hz is probably bad for eyes, but as long as I don't notice flickering, I am glad for the extra real estate.

wow, 1920x1440 on a 19" crt... i'm guessing it's a driver issue with nvidia cards... give it some time before nvidia comes out with some decent vista drivers... i'm running 8800gts on vista ultimate too, but my 2D desktop res @ 1920x1200 is fine... though running 3D games are still kinda buggy...

The thing that bugs me is that it lists other rez (1920x1080 & 1920x1200) but not the one that I was using in winxp when I upgraded to vista :( I'll try fresh installing and see if the rez comes back.
Or, could it be monitor's driver problem (unlikely, methinks).

there are some resolutions missing due to graphics driver issues... i remember reading in another forum where this guy was complaining why vista wasn't showing 1280x960 res that he normally uses with his CRT...

^It was a graphics driver poblem. I had sent an email to Nvidia's vista support but am yet to hear from them. But I noticed that the whql 158.18 driver was released yesterday. So I installed it and the resolution option came back. Whoohoo.

But why remove it in the first place??
