i wanted to port out of airtel, but got a similar experience. i got offer: free missed call alerts, 1p/6 sec A2A, 1p/2 sec A2M free for 1 month and at a cost of Re.1/day later on. They even promised to boost network strength in my college, because i told them the reason why i am porting out is zero network in college(True reason of course). They also said they had technical difficulty porting me out(lame excuse, i have enough balance and all). I told them to call again after 5 days and i said i would reconsider these offers if the network quality was really improved. they even cursed the operator to whom i was porting out to, saying "that's a bad network"!. look at the extent to which they try to retain their customers who are fed up. they ignore, cheat, overcharge customers and then when we try to leave them, they come begging to stay with offers.connect said:whenever i try porting my no from airtel to some other (actually i dont want to port in the first place) the airtel customer care calls me and keeps giving me offers and offers and i m loving it :
when u send a porting request to 1900 and then when u get the porting id , the customer care calls u to retain u and then just blast them bla bla....
first i was given 10p/min a2a & 30p/min a2m , then next month i got free missed call alerts (for which airtel normally charges rs 15/month , docomo gives free by default)
i m on airtel special retention plan
my advice , unless ur operator network sucks in ur area with frequent call drops , try this method to get cheaper offers without porting![]()
Virgin mobile has used this topic pretty nicely in their ads.rhlravi said:i wanted to port out of airtel, but got a similar experience. i got offer: free missed call alerts, 1p/6 sec A2A, 1p/2 sec A2M free for 1 month and at a cost of Re.1/day later on.
